In NY even I try to not get too close when greeting women (not that I'm religious or anything), but if they are very persistent then who am I to say no.
I have the same approach with making out with ladies, I try not to, but if they insist then who am I to say no .

A lot of cambridge schools have those traditions. And as KF is prob attending one of those its not easy to find people who are not into those trends.
There's a new show on ARY called Karachi High, which depicts those kids properly. Its easy for us to sit and declare judgements on teenagers and a totally different thing to actually be in a situation where I'm assuming King_Faisal is.

well my frndz know me. they even respect what i say “as they stop playing music especially when i reminds them that its magrib time”.
but still sometimes its hard, and i absolutly understand ur situation.

i live in a gora city but i dont like mixing with goras cause it takes so much effort. i work full time and i dont get to meet pakistanis other than the ones i know from home which is karachi. i used to be a burger until recently and as a result, most of my friends are from burger tubqa as well.

I agree with x2...I mean why associate with people who do things that are against your own values - to the point that you have to compromise your own values to fit in. If they are put off if you dont do the cheek-kissing thing, if they cant bring themselves to understand then you're better off without them. But if they see you're not comfortable with that type of greeting and are accepting of that and respectful of your personal space then do what you're comfortable doing and dont worry about it.
I come from a gori background where cheek and air kisses are just about mandatory to greet family and friends of family. I was never really comfortable with it but you get used to things when you grow up with them, know what I mean? It doesnt mean anything other than "hi, glad to see you" but if you find it to be even remotely a violation of your own personal space then do not engage in that type of thing. I still feel so very embarrassed about my first meeting with the family of my hubby over in pak....I was so happy to meet them and so much in love with my hubby that I gave each of them a kiss on the cheek and a big texan hug!! They were pretty shocked but handled it with grace and accepted me into their family with more class and understanding than I had upon meeting them!!

dude. just tell em u are not comfortable with it. most would be okay and most will be okay. I at one point personally had no issue, but my wife did with peopel approaching her that way, so when we got married she would be very polite and tell ppl, I followed her lead and stopped as well. I dont recall us losing any friends due to that.

i have noticed that abcd crowd tends to be very particular about deen. people i know from home dont care about religious rituals.

Faisal, I know it is generally not a normal practice in Pakistan however it is normal in a certain crowd and If you hangout with them then you know who is comfortable with cheek kissing and who is not. And let me tell you one thing, girls who are comfortable with it are the ones who will always come forward and will try to do it before you even think of doing it. So next time you are always well prepared :)
Seems like you dont have a problem with cheek kissing. Your issue is to determine when to do it or when not to. As I said earlier if you hangout with them then it shouldn't be an issue for you.

thanks for the advice. i think values might be too strong a word to describe what is a little bit of discomfort. its just that i feel a little odd in greeting this way and i am puzzled to see that so many people i associate with dont feel the same way i do. given that pakistanis are so judgemental, its hard to be yourself and not worry about offending people especially when you are in an agnabee city.

i grew up in n.nazimabad playing tape cricket. however through luck, i ended up in cambridge section where i became friends with some sind club burgers. it was only natural for me to be influenced by them.

well karachi hi wasnt that bad if u have seen hi d hi (ya i cant recall it). they show some real pathetic dance parties of lhr n khi, and i was like 
its so buckwas! 
p.s. even some aunties type women were there too
