Yeah, Opera, not Oprah Winfrey:cb:
Kind of music I am talking about here. Why don’t I like it and why do they like it like mad… I see them crying and I see them enjoying it most… I just can’t get a single word most of the times and it seems annoying too while hearing… ![]()

Yea…I don’t understand why they cry…but I find it amazing that their voices can reach such high crescendos
Re: What’s with the Opera??
Seriously… im that great at opera…its not at all difficult…
It just…sounds funny… ![]()
Re: What’s with the Opera??
to find that out you have to ‘crawl under their skin’ ![]()
Re: What's with the Opera??

but of course.... :)
Re: What's with the Opera??
Being able to break glass just by the echo of your voice can't be a small talent.
And yes the truth is I don't like it either.
Re: What's with the Opera??
i like SAPERA better than OPERA! :D
Queen, opera is somewhat a western equivalent of our classical raags. To an outsider, our raags may sound like crying cats, but the performance is more geared towards the exhibition of control on breath, pitch and vocal chords within that scale. Same is with opera. It's actually a very very difficult form of singing.
I wish I could posted a studio quality recording of this. I am not too much into opera but this is a very beautiful piece.
Re: What’s with the Opera??
yes, of course, I won’t sing it because I don’t like it ![]()
Re: What’s with the Opera??
o_O … TLK, did you really cry after hearing it?? Just asking. Yes, I agree to your “because it’s their music” part..
What’s with the Opera??
It’s also about the story. The range of emotion that opera displays is quite beautiful when you understand the character of the performer. There are so many elements that combine to make an opera: costumes, acting, singing, musical score etc. I think when you take all that into context, the dramatic nature, tears etc makes sense.
And Queen, no offense, but are you honestly saying being a classically trained opera singer is not difficult? And that you are on par with that level? ![]()

actually I did when I was watching the movie back in 94. as khatti mentioned, it was connected to the drama of that movie. beautiful movie. you must watch
Re: What’s with the Opera??
Why should I be offended. Yeah I have tried several times at my own to sing it and I sounded quite the similar. I never found it difficult to sing, but more of funny. I won’t say, I sound perfect because obviously its “their” genre and more importantly, not of my interest but I am sure, if I had a high interest in singing it, I would have not been bad at it!!
Opera, according to my observation, is all about going to high peaks with maintaining your chords. The best part about it is, you have to use your nose more than your gala… the thinnest you sound, the easy (at least for me) it is to hold. I have heard the highest peaks in Opera and the way I originally sound..if I sing such highest peaks in that tone, I am sure, I am gonna burst it off. But the tone that actual Opera requires, allows you to go on high notes.
I understand your first para, yes maybe when an environment is created… you feel the Opera!

Yeah.. I understand. I would really put the movie in my list :)

i dont know why you would even question this. haven’t you learnt anything? ![]()

For some reason, I always assumed that opera is all about singing from throat (where you vocal chords reside) and deep from your chest (because your lungs are there of course) than to sing from nose. But I might be wrong.
Plus it matters if you’re a male or a female opera singer, because both have their own vocal ranges.
Re: What’s with the Opera??
LOL, not everyone comes here for sarcasm queer. I don’t find anything wrong with her question. It was so obvious because I am not an Opera Girl, neither does it belong to me by any means, so declaring I am good at it, should BE surprising for any sane person!!
Re: What’s with the Opera??
Damn! Now that’s what bad about a god-gifted voice. You really can’t tell u r using nose or throat ![]()
For a sec, if I think what you are saying, I don’t find you are wrong. Yes, there is a possibility.. Whatever it is, I know I can handle that… ![]()
