Seriously? Life is so hard being a woman, my life sucks. My hubby sucks. My MIL sucks. What is this a** edited** Star TV soap opera?
If your life sucks and you have done nothing to change it - its your own damn fault. Your life sucks because you let it suck.
Let me put in perspective for you whiningedited. One of the radio operators here in Herat is female. She was facing death threats because she was:
Working for the UN
Seen with foriegners.
Wore jeans and shirts with a hijab.
In May she got attacked and stabbed a few times because she refused to comply with the statements of some crazy fundo. This all happened as her afghan colleagues just sat in the car and watched her get assaulted.
She had to be hospitalized for a few months and now thanks to the UN she is sitting in Greece as an asylum seeker which is crappier than living in Afghanistan. That is what some women have to go through in life.

That's terrible.For most of us, what we are going through always seems to be the worst possible. I guess we need to look at other examples to put things in perspective.

You see, that all makes sense but if we had problems of her calibre, we wouldn't be on here asking fellow guppans. It's an ONLINE FORUM which means it's meant to be fun, light and entertaining. You are in no way obligated to read or respond to any of those whiney posts. Simple.

If all you see in a statement of a woman being stabbed is me and my work you got a ****ed up sense of perception that is for damn certain.
If you have a home, a job, a loving family, friends and no real form of abuse, violence or danger quit your *****ing. A majority of this world is worse off than those of you who live in the West.

What you said makes perfect sense but this isn't the forum for all these serious topics, is what we're saying. Of course what happened to that women is horrid BUT you are taking this Life1 thing too seriously.

Uh, wow. How is it self-delusion when we chose to whine about trivial stuff? It's not. There are other sections of this forum which discuss stuff of that nature.

There are people dying in Africa each and everyday so does that mean we should just ignore husbands who insult their wives on a daily bases or like that one poster shared that her Bil's wife is beaten by a stick by her MIL, because *at least she's not dying or being stabbed? *Give me a break!
Shockingly A LOT of ladies who post here have real issues. And ya many of those issues have to do with MILs Sils and husbands. But just because they're not being stabbed, or murdered in the middle of some dambass country doesn't mean they're not important. It doesn't mean those issues should not be solved and taken care of.
Why the hell DO Mil treat their Dils like ***? Wasn't *she someones daughter??
why is it such taboo for a woman to want to take care of HER parents, and why does something start itching in her inlaws behinds when she's doing the SAME DAMN thing as her husband?
Just because women CAN handle A LOT, it does NOT MEAN THEY SHOULD BE PUSHED TO THEIR LIMITS or be tested.
These are problems in our society and they NEED to be fixed. Our desi culture has made is pretty damn hard to be a woman.

I don't know CM, the guppans here aren't bit*ching, they're asking for advice for the most part b/c many or most women aren't trained to handle abusive men or hurtful MILs. Maybe you'll be the model son in law and hubby but there are women out here that might have difficult situations to deal with and need GS to vent or they need friendly people to offer solutions or different viewpoints on how they could make their lives a little better while they figure out on their own how to survive in their respective situations. not everybody is born knowing the perfect solution to all of life's problems and i'm pretty sure their are afghan women that have to deal with similar situations of men that are abusive or in laws that don't know how to treat their DILs. the problems are the same everywhere, i don't understand how this bit of news you brought up makes problems of other women any less painful.

Life and *Relationships *= Life1 and this is what the forum is about. And there are a lot of ordinary people here in this world who don't have any extraordinary jobs etc but they do happen to have their usual ups and downs and upsets and it's perfectly normal to talk about those here too IMO.
Not everybody we see here is completely messed up in the head or suffering from supreme inferiority complex or is just too self centered.

So let me get this straight. While some people have no place to live, nothing to eat, nothing to wear, you have enough time and energy to complain about a ban in France (a country you have absolutely nothing to do it). That too is a very minor issue. I can say the exact same thing about your complaining behind.

i think we try to deal with the situations we're in with whatever wisdom/knowledge we have at the time. thinking things through here on GS does help b/c i'm sure there are people that just rush into decisions without thinking and make it worse than it is.
