Seriously…I think they are worse than the Taliban some times and GS is riff with them. They twist and turn religion to fit their own personal views, because they have an identity issue. You will hear Pakistanis or Muslims in the west saying Homosexuality is acceptable in Islam.
Its ****ing Wajab-ul-Katal. How can it be Halal when we are ordered to kill homosexuals? Or dating. Dating is haram. No ifs or buts about it. You can not hang out with a na mehram for no reason in a private setting.
Then other issues, like clothing, social life, ethics etc etc. They twist and turn religion to make it fit their personal view point, oddly enough just like the Taliban do. The Express Tribune is a stellar example of such people but GS has a few.
So why do people attempt to abuse Islam? Makes them sleep better at night? Eases their guilt?
Yes, it makes me sleep more soundly at night. I also find that my food gets digested more efficiently and that my spirits are uplifted and most importantly, guilt-free. Thank you for inquiring about my well-being.
^I'd like to add that this is the first time I've used the above smokin emoticon......that's because one of the effects of your question is an increased motivation to try new things.
There are some things in Islam that are pretty much defined clearly and pussyfooting around them is all too common. Like homosexuality, clothing, interest, gambling etc. I've even talked with people who argued alcoholic drinks taken in small doses are halal. That said there are a lot more issues in Islam that aren't clear cut and hence subject to interpretation. But I totally agree with The Express Tribune part, the comments on there (especially the blogs) do piss me off sometimes.

What Riz said. I should have clarified. Its the blogs that piss me off. Annoying as hell, self-absorbed and arrogant.
Actually you won't. It is a newspaper which is linked with the New York Times in Pakistan and the IHT. It is a good newspaper. But the opinion staff is a bunch of 20 somethings who studied in some very famous schools in the US but are completely divorced from the reality in Pakistan.
If you want to see what the elite 1% of Pakistan think or do - the blogs are what you want to read. This is the type of stuff Bilawal Bhutto and NS's kids would talk about.
It’s just a newspaper that has a very low editorial quality. They have blogs on their website but they literally take the piss with that and will publish any stupid rant.
Edit: I meant just the blogs part for low editorial quality. They are generally okay with normal news, although some of their writers tend to hate on Imran Khan sometimes :emmy:
Ah okay, will avoid the blogs. You guys certainly don't make them sound appealing.
Back to the topic at hand, I certainly don't like the apologist approach to Islam, but at the same time I do think that there are some things where there is a grey area UNLESS you are following Sharia Law. Like people may have done the interpreting for us to eliminate all doubt, but it's hard for me to trust those people, who have their own biases and interests. I would rather work directly with the word of Allah SWT and look for guidance there. And sometimes the issue is not so black and white.

See that is your problem. You have a screwed up concept of dating, the one that needs to be ended with a horizontal tango. Two sharif people having a coffee at star bucks is a date too and its halal ire they are meeting with an intention of checking each other out for marriage

NS's kids WRITE IN an English language 'newspaper'..... NAAAAT. I don't think they'd even bother to read :P

I could easily have the definition wrong. But at least I don't make a mockery of my faith to fit my own personal views.
Nah. Plus spending the night would be kinda creepy with all that hair...beard and all..... People want to break the faith by all means do so. But don't be dicks about it and malign the faith because you are too weak to follow it.
