Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

I have seen numerous threads opened and posts just to take a mick at indian team.

I am all up for light banter. It makes discussions interesting and fun to read but really annoying when it goes overboard.

Lets just focus on our team first. As I see, we have more problems than Indian team does. As for Indian posters, they are more than welcome and rather than inflaming situations, we should make them feel more at home here at GS. Obviously they play their part in taking micks but lets just keep it to light banter rather than ‘khwamkha ki pin lagana’.

Dont you think so?

Case in point: Dean Jones, Tendulkar’s useless centuries. I can go on and on.

re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

I agree...
I don't see the need to bring in irrelevant comments about India and the Indian team out of the blue just for the heck of it.

As far as flamers from the other side are concerned, I've always maintained that I hold my own side to much higher standards and would like to see us as accommodating hosts. Of course, for the persistent flamers, the mods and admin do a good job of identifying these types of members and take care of them anyways, so, there's really no need for members to take matters in their own hands.

re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

I am already working on some rules in the event that Pakistan clashes with India during this tournament.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

Saby the answer lies in the wording of your Q

it is an unhealthy 'obsession' for some (flamers on both sides)

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

oh come on. why take yourself so seriously.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

Bush's doctrine of preemptive strike :D

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

yar light banter is fun.. in fact welcome. But some of the threads were really in bad taste like there isnt anything better to do than discuss Indian team. I see more threads regarding Indian team than our pakistani team.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

maybe theres just more to discuss about the Indian team from a cricket fan's perspective.. for those who are motivated purely by love of the game! stop being so nationalist saby :p

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

yeah its pretty pathetic....

India this, india that...like others stated its from both sides. The comments should be focussed on "cricket", either skills, stats, style etc.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

Theek heay yaar....prevention is good in this case...make some simple rules and stick to them....

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

I am delighted to see this thread. I had become a regular on Cricketnama but I have not been around much for the WC cuz 1) I'm out watching the games with friends etc and 2) everytime I log in here I see way too many retarded remarks against India.. a lot of them quite racist and prejudiced.. not just light banter. from folks who didn't really post on Cricketnama before the WC.... Of course there are idiots on both sides. This is a Pak forum so there are more Pak idiots than Indian idiots.

But yeah it's getting to the same levels of nonsense that you find on other 1-2 forums that I visit sometimes.

Glad to see some of my sane Pakistani brothers speak up.

We all love cricket. Let's enjoy it. This WC has been great so far.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

you are one of the culprits too. derailing normal threads into the same ol india vs pak nonsense. you should find something better to entertain yourself man. get over this age old nonsense.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

what thread have i ever derailed.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

come on we are just having fun with our small lil friends from across the border. its cute and hilarious when they all get grumpy when india loses; just like to mess with them a little. nothing serious. cheers. :D

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

Here is one for all the Pakistani jabs against the Indian team

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

it actually sounds like you are the one grumpy with the insecurity and inferiority complex.. taking jibes at the big brother to make yourself feel better

cheers :D

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

hahahaha awesome

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

It may have to do with kids making claims India will make 400+, India will make 500+, India will defeat opponent by 200+ margin etc.

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

^ Plenty of blame to go around.

I consider the last game (India South Africa) an outlier. Things will be fine going forward. Chuck Day whoever is the best team. (Actually, Sharabee said it best - watch and enjoy the game rather than post too much during the game.)

Re: Whats up with obsessing about Indian team?

I think this forum is named PAKlinks and is primarily frequented by Pakistanis and people of Pakistani origin. The comments you see here on Cricketname are not unlike what you would hear at many a gathering where Pakistani cricket enthusiasts are discussing the sport they so passionately love and in which they would like their own team to win. I see no reason to be excessively politically correct. I have not seen any ghatia, gali galooch, below the belt or personal comments directed against our Indian friends. This is in contrast to the treatment "Pakis" are meted at some Indian-oriented forums.

Many of the comments here are light-hearted and should be taken in one's stride. Unfortunately if still some Indian friend takes offense too easily than he or she can feel free to move to some other forum. At the end of the days Paklinks is a *Pakistani *forum. It is one of the rare places online where Pakistanis can have an online *candid *conversation with other Pakistanis from different corners of the world-- so long as these conversations are within the realm of decency, as they already are, there is no reason for excessive thought policing just because some Indian would take offense.
