Khair, one idea (I guess too late for married couple now) could've been to buy a diary and write an entry like everyday (every other day or every week) and give it to your spouse as an additional gift on 1st anniversary. Some might think it's too much work for both, the husband and wife or might think that it's kinda fruity but you never know, your spouse might've enjoy reading it :P. You can still do it for your next anniversary. Khair, these and some others I have in mind are gift ideas and that's not the topic here. You can go with the options you have in first post. You can also have a small party at your place where you invite close family members and friends, unless you want to do everything as a couple that day.
I like that idea...its a really beautiful and meaningful idea...probably better than giving anything materialistic.
If I ever get a husband, i think i might use that idea HHL. Thanks for the idea.
