WELL today me and my friends were discussing this issue and i have come to know alot of mazai ki things…they are really strange and funny lemme tell ya all..and if u know abt any traditions do tell me
if it rains on a wedding, it means the bride has licked the spoon
One in particular that alot of the older ladies love to take "pride" in is if the expecting mother has become less attractive (and of course we know how great old women are at measuring attractiveness) then its a boy, if she's become more attractive then its a girl.
and another one, if the expecting mother trips/falls over alot its a boy lol
if you foot hits someone elses foot then u have to shake hands otherwise you will have a fight another day .
if one of ur eye lashes falls then u hold it in ur hand and make a wish…they believe it comes true..many afghans must have heard of that one:)
in my family we have a stupid tradition where if some one drops a spoon the person sitting left to the spoon dropper has to punch him/her till she/he throws up or passes out (what ever comes first). I would delibratly sit on the right side of my dad and drop the spoon and wait for him to make me bleed. It used to ease the pain inside. :)

I guess Gamma your mum didn't really have an eyelash in her hand when she wished for a normal kid.
^ dont try to act too smart/funny... it doesnt come natural to you and u end up sounding corny. Every time you try something like that God amputates a puppy. think of the puppies.
Re: whats the most stupid tradition you’ve ever heard?
when we were kids we had another story about eyelashes
if you put your fallen eyelashes into ur hair . they will grow thick
and the tradition of making wish at the time is so common. but first you have to guess on which cheek the eye lash is sticked on and if you guess right , then you are allowed to make a wish
Re: whats the most stupid tradition you’ve ever heard?
People don’t go out when a billi cross infront of them
stupidtly i too believe , i had hardtime when i was in tokyo, people have lot cats as their pets
Re: whats the most stupid tradition you’ve ever heard?
If you tell stories during the day, the guest will get lost on their way. ← i think this one was an excuse not to tell me stories by my cousins I love stories
Or if theres a crow sitting on your roof, guest are on their way.
Re: whats the most stupid tradition you’ve ever heard?
oOo yeah..this one is so strong in my family…and is simply annoying…even if you accidently do it! the ppl who are sitting half a mile away doing their thing willl YELLL OUTT and make you walk over again…i dont know what this is about…but i find it so useless now..but as a child..thanks to the parents…if someone ever walked over me…i would freak out thinking that i ’ ll never grow tall :halo:
Re: whats the most stupid tradition you've ever heard?
My grandma instilled one in our heads...if you touch your neck you have to blow on your hand....i dont remember why anymore....but my brother is extremely paranoid about it...
oh and if you wear someone else's hat , you or that person (again i dont remember) will lose hair....
but i guess things that are being mentioned here are more of superstitions than tradtions....
Recently, I did hear about a really weird tradition from my roommate...
She says that in their family when a girl gets her first period, she's not allowed to go out of the house for 7 days in which lots of other rituals are performed on her....like bathing her in some kinda weird water and feeding her weird things....and then getting tonns of presents from like the whole family (which is not bad i guess lol) and then getting blessed by an elder etc etc......
she said that she had to go to her dadis house, dressed in super fancy clothes and then when she got there, they put gajras on her and all her male cousins were just sitting there staring at her....i m guessing that was like the most embarrassing moment of her life...
anyhow, i found this tradition a lil too out there...
