I learned that giving furniture as part of the Jehez is a norm in Pakistan. Is this true? Why furniture? She has to bring her own bed to sleep on?
Not just that - T.V, fridges, fans, deep freezers, cars - it like a home remodeling list for the inlaws.

My opinion on the matter is...buy it yourself. Show people you cannot be weighed or measured by how much gold you get and how many clothes you bring with you. PS - my opinion is don't buy it all. Seriously you won't even use or wear half of the stuff. Quality over Quanity.
My parents wasted so much money and time on my wedding and my sisters. I wished they would have spent that time and energy on themsleves and their own health.
