I know I ask this a LOT, but seriously, I am pretty clueless about the Asian fashion scene at the moment.
I need an outfit for an October wedding. I have the shoes and I need to base the outfit around those.
They’re pink. Shall post a picture soon, but I want to know more about styles and embroidery. Im not really into the whole anarkali dress thing, nor do I want a sari, sharara/garara/lengha thing. More of a simple shalwar kameez kind of lass.
Are you planning on getting readymade or having something stitched?
Something the same color as your shoes with gold kaam might look lovely (I see the buckle is goldish).

Readymade is a no no as I do not have the monies (shoes cost me more than my education!) I will probably get something made. I have this designer aunty who can get it made. But you have to be very specific with her.
I don't think I suit light colours. So I was thinking maybes black and pink...dont know really. I need a style too. So confused.com!
long shirts (past knees) with trouser pants or capris, shirts with high collars/sherwani type, jamavar looks nice for weddings, chooridar
Check out She Magazine(just type in google) their archives can give you some ideas of designs and kaam. There are some ideas you can get from gupshup bazaar also. Facebook has a bunch of groups of designers..nayna, urban design concepts, hsy, karma, rouge, sobia nazar, maria b..you can get ideas of colors, cuts, and designs from there . There's a thread here with a list of designers and their websites too.
I came back from pakistan about 3 weeks ago and got a lot of ideas about color combinations, kaam designs, fabrics from all of the above. I printed out pics i liked and although i didn't get exact copies of designer wear, i got a good idea of trends.
Aww bless you luv, fanks SO much. Will check out the facebook pages and google.
I dont like trousers though and would never wear capris. Chooridaar I could maybe do. Aw man, this is SO much hassle. Why must peope get married when Milly as no monies!
I really like the embroidery (I would probably have less of it) and I love colours, I guess the lengh of the kameez could be made shorter and the perhaps a chooridaar instead?
keep em coming! I am a very visual learner! Have just been on the HSY or HYS website and OhMyLife! Its take like 10 mintutes for all the fancy cyber stuff to finish..i got bored of waiting!
Hello Milly, dont get a churidar with these shoes, it's going to be a disaster and if you dont wear capris then go for pants, with these shoes your only 2 options are pants/capris, cause churidars and shalwars are a big no no!!!!
get a plain suit to match the shoe colour and have embroidery on the sleeves and very lil on the slit of the high collar and get a banarsi dupatta... let the suit stya plain. It'll look classy and elegant!! Dont do anything with black, with the shoe colour it'll be better to have a dress made within the same colour family.

Ok, erm... if I get plain material matching the colour of the shoe...which material? and can I get black embroidery done? High collar...um not so sure what you mean...examples?
I really dont suit pants and I do not want capris.
This is so hard! Im so gona wear my jeans and t-shirt instead!
Hehehe no dont wear a t!! I'll explain, what you do is get a plain raw silk suit, with a big motif or border on the sleeves and you know like the bargello picture, it has a collar, do that and just have embroidery on the front slit, rest of teh suit can remain plain, and a banarsi dupatta to go with it!!! A long shirt and pants, cause even if you're short, the shoes are gonna give your height a boost so you'll look fine with a long shirt. As far as the embroidery is concerned get it to be mostly gold, stones same colour as the fabric/shoes and a touch of black.
Thanks for the pics luv, some of them are very nice.
One thing that comes to mind is that the trousers look like budgies…erm also known as Jackups…also known as trousers that are too short! I would be slated if I wore these at a any wedding in the U.K!
