Re: Whats in?

When i went back last month, orange and magenta were the big bridal colors..it got annoying seeing every single bride in teh same color outfit...what i've seen about pak and their fashions, if one thing is popular, like color or style, then that's what goes for howevermany seasons/years. Nobody breaks apart from the mold, at least not that i have seen...

Re: Whats in?

sehar
thanks. It looks very nice.

Re: Whats in?

thanks sehar, your suit looks really nice.

iv decided what im going to get made, im aiming for plain everyday wear clothes cos i was checking out my fancy wedding clothes the other day and i got plenty, but no weddings to attend! anyway, im sick of being the tart, i need to tone down my christmas tree look!

I promise to post pictures of my kapray as soon as i get a digi cam.

Thanks to everyone who posted their clothes. :)

Re: Whats in?

Orange and magenta? Well that explains the outfits I got then.

Re: Whats in?

Sara i agree, when a color is hot, they all look like cookies from the same factories. That is why i like the work of bunto kazmi, expensive as she is, her color combinations for brides are not based on fashion trends but on what really looks good on traditional dulhans.

remeber the mid 90’s all the brides were wearing icy pastels whether it suited their skin color or not and then the parlors would make their faces chalky white to try to make it look good.

My personal fav is always a deep maroon for the shaadi day

Re: Whats in?

ok just came back to this thread!! The first one - orange and blue for sure dear!! :k:

Re: Whats in?

Congratulations Saddzzz!!! You’re getting engaged - how fun  I want to come to the party and dance :hula:

Re: Whats in?

I saw Iffat Rahim wearing them on some show on tv and she looked good in it!! :k: I don’t know if I wore them how they would come across lol! In the pics online, they look really weird.

Re: Whats in?

Iffat is around 88 lbs and is 5 feet tall im sure she looked cute... I think afghani shalwars look nice if you do a traditional gypsy look with the chunky chandi jewelry and the longer frock like shirts. But not with a regular kameez for a party wear look- at least not for me

Re: Whats in?

^ She was wearing a short shirt (barely knee length) and the afghani shalwar. Like I said, on me, it would look totally paindu :D

Re: Whats in?

its funny how afghani shalwars are in style now because my grandmother has been wearing them forever and i always hated all the extra fabric they used to make the shalwar. but they do look really good when worn with a short kameez..

Re: Whats in?

Hmmmm…from what I remember of the few weddings my relatives had in those years, red was always the barat color and valima was green or fuschia. I think brides should just wear whatever looks nice on them, forget what’s “popular” and “traditional” coz i think whatever looks nice on you will always look classic and timeless, to me. Twenty years from now, you won’t cringe at your wedding photos becoz u looked tacky…don’t even get me started on teh makeup…I’ve yet to see any real dulhans properly made up .

Re: Whats in?

I want to wear baby pink or mint-green on my wedding

Plus, I dont’ know, I have to choose what I’ll wear fo the valima …i don’t get how some girls can be so trusting to elt someone else decide what they’ll wear…usually it’s a surprise and they don c their valima outfit til the day of the wedding rite…so what if they don’t like it? :halo:

Re: Whats in?

My inlaws are all originally from Lucknow and all the girls wore a red gharara on their shadies, the kaam was all different but the tradition of a dulhan in red was maintained.
The wedding i attended last week was an interesting one the family is agha khani, the girl wore a sari for her religious ceremony in a white with gold and a lush royal blue lehnga with a corset style strapless blouse with magenta, fuscia and deep green work on it. The dress was beautiful she got it from Neelofer Shahid- im just not big on dating your self with a fad or wearing stuff that is 'FUSION' on ones own wedding.

Re: Whats in?

Actually a lot of families now take into account what their bahu likes so they ask the girl or take her with them when selecting the dress. I think that is only fair cause if i got a firozi lehnga for my valima i would have flipped twice i dont like that color for my self. I was also asked and i said burnt orange and maroon combo with dull or antique kaam. i got rust with burgundy with light gold kaam but it was still very close to what i had wanted.
After all a girl looks forward to her burri and her shadi collection all her life, her choice should definitely be taken into account
Hint hint all mother in laws out there.

Re: Whats in?

Yeah…well when my cousin was getting married this January, all of us were going around all the bazaars in Lahore trying to find a valima outfit for hsi bride-to-be. My favorite was this ferozi/turqoise lengha but they all decided on orange. Nothing else was really available, you know every store had the SAME EXACT THING, so it got pretty frustrating. The lehengha was very pretty but you know, very cookie-cutter-ish. Her own wedding lengha (silk maroon with baby pink, sapphire blue and ivory and gold kam) was a lot more beautiful. I heard later on that the new wifey didn’t like it so much but its not like she made such a huge fuss or cried ro anything. She was very dignified and regal on her wedding day so it wasn’t the typiacl spoiled brat scenario…

Re: Whats in?

This was my bhabi's barat outfit..
I hope you can see the lovely kam...

Re: Whats in?

oh im so excited about mine! :) ok how much of a kid did i just sound like...

im gonna let my mum decide the colours and stuff for the actual wedding day and let my my mother-in-law and sis-in-law do the walima.. well hmmm i havent discussed with any of them yet.. but it sounds logical no? hehe

im hoping for a light colour on the wedding day... i know thats what mum wants me to wear

sara, ive been told by many people that i should go at least 2-3 months before the wedding to get the outfit that i want... like if i want it designed or watever..

manomano... have u heard of Lajwanti? i saw some of her designs.. just amazing!! do u know anyone else with similar designs...
