I have seen lots of girls try things that are ‘in’ just because everyone is doing it, regardless of whether it suits them, their complexion, eye color, or body-type. I read girls asking what’s ‘in’ in the bridal section as well and not really worrying about if it’ll actually look good on them or not. We all remember the first time highlights were introduced, everyone wanted the same ‘bleached’ highlights… if you are fair you can carry it off..if you aren’t it looks horrible. Same thing with pear and apple shaped bodies wearing patiala shalwars, short women wearing the long kameez’s and flared bottoms.
Do you follow what’s 'in or do you actually do what you believe looks nice on you?
I tend to wear what suits me....and that may not necessarily be "in." My mom and I have arguments about this a lot of times. She'll tell me that I shouldn't wear this particular style of kurta because it's not "in." For example...if I want to wear a kurta that's knee-length, she'll say that the ankle length is more "in" right now....and I'll tell her that I don't much care for it because a longer length can make a short person look shorter. Or the other day...I was telling her how I love mermaid lehngas...and she says that they're not even "in" anymore....and I'm like I don't care....some things don't really die out and that it's not such a crime to repeat it again if it's done right/well.
i wear what suits me, short kameezes and patiala shalwars.. i dont like them cuz i dont feel they suit me even though im not short the proportions just seems to be wrong lol
For all the girls that say 'it suits me'.. has an image consultant or professional said that to you or do you 'think' it looks nice?
I bump into girls and guys of all shapes and sizes that aren't dressed according to their body-type..they have the confidence to wear the outfit and 'think' it looks nice as well, when in real it doesn't.
For ex. if you have wide hips and you wear a short kameez, it'll only make your hips appear larger. If you are short or have a thick waistline a fitted shirt will make it look wider..
I am not only talking about clothes but accessories as well, do you know what your face shape is? Do you know what kind of sunglasses would suit your face-shape?
What is your body-type? Are you dressing accordingly or ignoring it and just following the latest trends instead?
I generally pick and choose.. This year the tight jeans are in and they don't look good on me because most of my weight is on my thighs and butt. I choose to stick to normal pants and jeans.. for pakistani clothes I do tend to follow the fashion more so than western wear. Gina what do they recommend for people with round face as far as hairstyles go? I am considering a medium/short bob with an angle.
in terms of accessories … i would really appreciate some help with choosing sunglasses and hats … especially for those with a small head/face … i love both these accessories and it’s the hardest thing to find one that suits me …
randomly i found the perfect cap for myself while on holiday in france … and then i forgot it in the metro …
is there a specific place where small-heads can go shop caps/hats/glasses?
Well isn't it just better to wear whatever you like? Even if others don't think it suits you, if you're happy why should it matter?
Exactly--there shoudl be a balance between what you like and what generally looks good
Personally I LOVE skinny jeans. Others may not agree, but I think they look nice on me. if I'm told to wear what others dictated I'd be pretty miserable.
