What's "in" vs what suits you?

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

the few times i do a makeover I totally teach my girls the rules to dressing for their body type. When you wear what's in and not what's in and right for your body you can make yourself look trashy, or worse fat. Remember last summer all these women walking around in maxi dresses that flared out from the empire waist? That was a horrible idea for anyone with big arms (bc most dresses were sleeveless), for short women because it made them look stumpy (needed to rock platforms or wedges). Or for thick/wide girls it just made them look even wider. It was rare when I saw a girl rocking a maxi dress that actually complimented her figure.

Like if you have a jlo booty and bigger legs maybe skinny jeans aren't for you, instead you should be going for straight cut. Yet I see a ton of girls with thunder thighs walking around in their skinnny jeans happily. I just have to SMH when I see them. It's worse when I know the person but unless someone asks me how they look I wont speak up.

Alhamdulillah, usually what is in and what suits me are one and the same :) :) :)

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

What if you're happy because you don't know how bad it looks untill someone points it out to you? Would you rather be happy, or look appealing to majority and be happy at the same time?

Would you wear a sleeveless sari when you have flabby arms and still be happy if everyone made fun of you?

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

very limited things actually suit me so i only go with style that i myself like in mirror.
Gina post some pix or why not all those who say every style suits me post their pix n we can rate them :)

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One thing I wear might look dreadful to one person and lovely to someone else. If using my own judgement, I think it looks good why should I care if others don't find it appealing? (staying within the realms of decency) Everybody's taste differs. I disagree upon following guidelines on what suits you and what doesn't suit you, unless you yourself make those decisions.

Yes I would wear a sleeveless sari with flabby arms if I thought it looked good. I don't know right now because I've never worn one before. But if I did think it looked good I'd wear it with confidence. :)

That's the best reply ever!!!

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

Thumbs up! and yes, big girls can rock skinny jeans too!!

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

Gina u r 100% right..our desi girls/women do not care dat wats really suits on their body, weight ect they only want to grab the fashion...i have question abut the kameez's length dat abut how much height should b to wear n carry the long shirt n flaired bottoms?i mean if i'm 5'2 then would the long shirt suit or not bcuz i think i'm not much tall so i am bit conscious...

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

There are skinny jeans that 'chubby' women can wear and that will flatter them instead of highlighting the 'trouble areas'. Why not wear what suits you instead of wearing what's 'in' even if it plays-up u're problem area's?

A long kameez if u're short will make u appear shorter, anarkali's on busty women will make them look bustier. I've seen brides wear mermaid style lehnga's (being a pear-shape) that's the worst style u could chose..

Re: What’s “in” vs what suits you?

I reckon that cant’ be a bad thing :hmmm:

Re: What's "in" vs what suits you?

A bit of both.

I don't look good in anarkalis - so I don't even own one. I compensate that by getting longer shirts made with a tailored flare - I am tall so I can pull it off.
