It was all boiling from couple of months, then came the alcohol ban and the development of ottoman era military barracks next to Taskim square.
that was it now all the younger generation is on the roads, but the sad part is police is using excessive force & PM Erdogan is still defiant and calling the protesters as “looters” & “alcoholics”

Istanbul Mayor already apologize by saying “we learnt the lesson” its certainly getting out of control i think Turkey political class should show some maturity and cool down the protesters, i don’t want even in my wildest dreams to destroy the flight of Turkish economy …

But it also proves that real democracy already taken root in the society of Turkey, they can come out and fight for their rights.

Just google Taksim Kislasi and you will see what it was like before. What the government wants to do now is, change the park and make it even greener. Everyone who has been to Taksim or lives there, knows what kind of nasty place that park is. Tourists can’t even go there because most people there are wandering drunk and making out there. You probably saw only one side of the media, that shows the ‘‘peaceful protesters’’. But in reality they are drunk, are drinking beer and throwing the bottles at the police officers. The same media doesn’t show how many Police officers are injured and how many shops, buses, cars etc. are ruined by the ‘‘peaceful protesters’’. Policemen are humans as well.

There is a reason why the Police acted in such way. The same day there was another huge protest in Istanbul against Israel. Why didn’t just one little thing occur between the Police officers and them? Because they didn’t demolish everything that came in their way.

Btw yesterday in Istanbul, there were Police officers in only one place, and that was near the Dolmabahce Palace. But what did the protesters do? They carried on demolishing everything.
