I am not going to deny that the early Muhajir leadership’s insistence on Urdu was a monumental folly.
But after the Ayoub coup of the 1958, the Muhajir were no longer part of the power structure. So yes you can blame them for the intial alianiation of the Bengalis, but not for 1971.
The problem is that no one has answered my question. If you were in our shoes, what would have done. MQM was born in the warped period of the 1980s, and followed an equsally troubled 70s. The answer I suspect is that you guys would have set up something similar. Infact, faced with similar sort of trauma, many Pashtuns have gravitated towards the Taliban. Unless you guys refuse to create a level playing field, you will getting MQMs.
And what’s your evidence that the Muhajir’s are taking your jobs in the Punjab. Part of my village is settled near Chistian, and they work hard as farmers, and don’t depend on anyone. Can’t see anyone depriving the rights of any Punjabi. These statements create more recruits for the MQM then Altafs dramabaz speaches.
