Let's talk some sense here !
When some one is going to transfer the money - some one has to generate the request - either by filling the lodgement slip or setting a DD order ( with frequency ) in favour of your name ..
Bank doesnt perform such action on their wish and will .
And each costumer has a unique account number , so you may have 1001 S A Shah holding an account in your bank , but they all have a different account number tagged to them .
so when you come up with a lodging request -- the cashier matches the name against the account number you have printed on your lodging slip .. and follow the SOP designed for making a lodgement into an account ..
so even if the guy , who is depositing the money has made a mistake in filling the slip , it would get rectified on this very micro level .
right ?
so there is no room for an unintentional mistake ...
and for the planned scums - Do you think all the check and balances , we have in those million dollars worth Core banking applications are just good for nothing ?
The SOPs are waste of time , no one follows them ?
and the Day end reports , weekly report , monthly report , the system generates are never going to get checked ?
Audit department of the bank sleeps during the work , or on the micro level the operations manager of the branch never check these details at the end of day?
And don't you think lodging or withdrawing such level of amount must requires some supervisor clearance ... And even if the cashier is making a mistake , intentionally - his/her supervisor is not going to check the details on the system in front of him/her .
and when you going withdraw that Million dollars ( and pardon me for saying but you can't withdraw it from the ATM . Smell the coffee ) - Bank is not going to run the standard security checks on your transaction.
By laws Banks have the rights to ask for the source of money you going to lodge in an account ( not talking about Swiss banks here) - for hefty withdrawal , they may ask for the need and record it in their system ( depends on the law of land ).
Blah blah blah - I could write a bloody essay on how things work at bank ( or infact on how a CBA works ) .. so in a nutshell , sehyrsh bibi ... If wishes were horses - all the desis would be riding them :D

I would withdraw the whole amount and then bargained with the bank to return the money in exchange for some amount (at least $100,000)

This is a hypothetical situation - but a bank error CAN take place and what happens next is left to other’s imagination.
