So i was just thinking and was quite confused at what a person would call their in laws. Like what would a girl call her mother and father in law like mum/dad or aunty/ uncle? and what would a guy call his mother and father in law? What do you guys and gals that are married call your in laws?

My MIL is my phupo so i call her phupo. My FIL, uncle. I would have preferred abbu but this is how my phupo refers to him infront of me so i stick to uncle.
I like ammi and abbu though!

If they asked me to call them the same as hubby I probably would do so, although I prefer not. Just seems odd to be, especially if I'm calling my parents mama/papa and then his too. Yeah, well..

Agar disrespect karni he hai then go all the way. Khali peeli don't stop at aunty/uncle, take their name directly. That will teach them to marry their son or daughter to you.

call them whatever you feel is appropriate. my MIL refers to herself as auntie (not ammi) so i call them auntie and uncle.

I call my FIL "Daddy" & used to call my MIL "Mamma". I prefer it this way because if I married the man then I might as well embrace his everything as my own.
My own husband however calls my parents "Aunty" & Uncle". As long as he gives them the respect & care they deserve being his wife's parents, he can call them whatever he wants.
Neither one of us are/were picky about this.
I do think that if one can then they should definitely call their parents in laws by the same name their spouse calls them from.

Its not a big deal to call them aunty and uncle but its norm to call them what your husband calls them.

I call my MIL "mummy" because that's what my husband does and I got the feeling early on he expected me to do likewise. My husband never directly called my parents "Ammi" & "Papa" like I did (it was always just "aap" when he was talking to them" but that is how he referred to them when speaking to anyone else.
