ohhhhhhhhh thats a must toooo!!! thre were days when my sas wud make shammi kabab and give it to us and we cud bring it but not anymore i guess?? dunno if its allowed.. but i can bring food items cus i live in dubai but US ppl who have long flights cannot do that i think
Hmm I would bring back **Goond **Ki Barfi from Lahore, I forget the shop...has little crunchy bits of goond in it...so goood! Some ethnic decoration pieces, bed sheets/curtain sets. Oh and don't forget Chilgozay....those little nuts i think they are pine nuts?? Hmm. Oooh also these chinese masala packets that I found in Pindi Shopping center....soooo good!!!! Jewelry sets for gifts. Hmm tons of DVD's/CD's of songs/software etc. Clothes are a must for me and the kids. In the past we were able to bring jamun and amrood packed nicely in plastic bags, but now we don't even take the chance with all the stricter rules. Those were awesome!!!!
I wouldn't get shan masala's since you find them easily in the US (or online for that matter). what i WOULD and HAVE brought is cake rusk. uffffff, there is a bakery on GT road that is famous all over pakistan for their cake rusk. I think it's called united bakery, near gujrawala or smth. the cake rusk from that place is beyond delicious. the stuff you get here is very ****ty in comparison. One other thing is our family favourite, "khataee" from khalifa bakery which is located somewhere in interior lahore. Don't know the exact location, but that is the best desi cookie EVAAAA. and fyi all bakery items are legal.
Barfi, oranges cos my hubby's family owns orange orchard, poppers that you fry before eating, a bit like crisps, ding dongs yep lol and Sooper biscuits! love those biscuits sigh. my parents usually request something too, last time i bought back some gurr for my mum.
once my hubby bought amrood, when he came out into arrivals, i could smell them...honestly i thought he was wearing a new fragrance lol
OH MY GOD! I love United Bakery's cake rush and Khataiya'an from Khalifa Bakery! Khalifa Bakery is near mochi darwaza I think. We got andarassey and khataiya'an from there when we came back to Dubai from Lahore! OMG I can't wait to go back lol

im assuming it is cos ive never had any probs doing so, ive bought fruit back (to the UK so a long flight too) as part of my hand luggage quite a few times now.
i remember when me and hubs bought back barfi, we just packed it in a suitcase between a lot of other things and had no probs, no one even mentioned it, and this was at islamabad airport.
@Sara and ChickenBiryani. If you follow the link that i sent, It's pretty clear that bakery items are allowed. You should take a print out of that when you travel, coz I've never had issues bringing in mithai and biscuits and basically anything that is permitted.
