Australians are so dominating Cricket right now its like they are playing high school students.
What will it take for countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, etc… to defeat them?
They are completely unstoppable right now and new players are being groomed to take place in Aussie Cricket Team once the current team starts retiring.
A Neuclear Bomb .. aimed ... 35.70 degrees right in the center of their Dressing room ..during the lunch break at their next match .... and then single missiles ... aimed at every reserve player they have where ever on this planet ... maybe we should contact ... president ahmadjeenad of Iran .. he may be able to help.....
belief, mental toughness is lacking which most teams crumble to
what aussies do is put some pressure, and the opposing team does the rest
even tho sri lanka lost, they were not afraid of aussies and i felt if it was not for the f'ed up final it could have been very close even tho the target was monumental
also need to make domestic cricket a lot more competitive
The Aussies are mentally stronger than any other cricket team on the planet. When they face difficult odds, they are up for the challenge, when they come to a big match game, they raise their own standard so high that it becomes impossible for anyone to get close to them.
They are truly a champion side, and well deserving of the mantle of being the best side in the world.
Its not hard to understand why in the last 3 finals, 3 subcontinent teams - Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka have all gotten to the finals by using their talent and playing good cricket - however none of these sides, or any other side, is as mentally tough as the Aussies - and while the Aussies look forward to a big game, everyone else feels the preassure of the big occasion.
To be able to win against the Aussies CONSISTENTLY...and Im not just talking about a flash in the pan win here and there...but to beat them CONSISTENTLY....teams have to raise their mental and physical standard by a huge margin. And the last 8 years have shown - that no one has been able to do that succesfully, which is a shame...because the talent is everywhere, but if you dont have the whole package to go with it, then theres really not much use of being super talented.
For now though, I dont see anyone coming close to the Aussies for a long time.

Top post and agree with everything you have said here. The first para infact sums it up very nicely
A lot of hard work, discipline and self belief. Australia is in a different league altogether. No team in this world cup was even able to stretch them or put them under pressure.
For now it seems the Aussies can only be defeated by the law of averages - period. Even that did n't stop them winning an astonishing 23 straight World Cup Games and remaining undefeated for 29 World Cup games.
This all-conquering Aussie side wins an amazing 82% and 90% of their ODIs and Tests respectively. Ricky Ponting's success ratio as captain in ODIs (won 116, lost 25) and Tests (won 27 tests, lost 3) is 81.82 and 90% respectively. That's almost too good to be true.
So barring a shock win here and there, I can't see any side consistently beating Australia for another 4 or 5 years
they just need to believe in themselves..other teams just get scared while playing the aussies..I think the individual players techniques are better than the rest but they dont have the confidence.
i think it's mostly a matter of strategy. aussies make right strategies at right times, they're very lucky to have a captain like ponting. i think we need a good captain, a good cricket board, and then rest all will unknot itself. i also think that we should try experimenting with new stuff.. if luck doesn't cooperate then it doesn't but we should try. take a look at the WC finals for example. i think sri lanka really kept the aussies under control - with the exception of gilchrist, the aussies were unable to read sri lanka's script. but then the rain, the minimizing of overs, some incompetent umpiring (including mahela's wrong lbw) blew it away.
Aussies can be beaten. Need a team with 80-90% of the same level of batting and 120% and above bowling as compared to aussie attack. Fielding being a basic requirement. Aussies will be beaten.

Yes they surely can be defeated by the law of averages, only joking :D
On a serious note good captaincy and coaching alone won't do it. We need a strong non-political PCB administration and a competitive domestic game along the lines of Pura Cup (formerly Sheffield Shield cricket) in Australia in order to groom new world-class talent. It will take a lot of hard work, discipline, attitude, hunger for success, super-fitness and aboveall mental strength/self belief.
