Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
What will Imran haters do if negotiations are success?
instead of giving a tit for tat reply, after all we've seen do you seriously and logically think that the negotiations can be a success?
and what will we be "negotiating"? that we will accept Hakimullah Mehsud as the king of Waziristan? that there will no girls' schools in the north? forget about girls' school, there will no schools - period. is that what we're conceding? that everyone will grow a beard? that women will not leave their houses? that we will abolish the court system? is that what we're "negotiating"? is that what we're compromising on?
I don't understand what Imran Khan wants to negotiate on. states don't negotiate with dakoos, thugs, kidnappers and mass murderers - even if they have beards like the taliban do.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
What will USA do if negotiations between Karzai and Taliban fail?
They will pack up and leave eventually. Where will all the 180 million Pakistanis go?
I remember people had a lot of hopes for peace in Swat after the ceasefire and subsequent agreement. But even then I was thinking: What exactly do we agree on? As Samb said, there is nothing to talk about. The Taliban are just a bigger form of land mafia...

I had to resort to that seeing Imran Khan being dragged for an issue ignoring so many other things around the country.

Perhaps he wants to bring them to the table so there can be ceasefire from both sides. "Negotiating" does not mean compromising for everything, I am not an expert of FATA issues but looks like Pakistan lost its attraction to them firstly by changing the laws we agreed upon with them, secondly using them like US uses Pakistan i.e. like a condom, use when needed then trash when not needed. We used them/their-area to support Afghan war of 80s, then we used them for Taliban, then we wanted to use them for foreign forces. When do you say "enough is enough"?
"Shariah", "school girls" are probably not their bread-butter ideology but most likely a way to hurt our country and make an international 'cause'.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
Imran ne khoji ki bhens churaai hai jo har jagah zehar ugalta phir raha hai???? Look at all the forums, its all racial Bull from him. Whats going on? Racism cannot counter racism. The outcome is always corps and trash.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
Which of the following is true:
Imran Khan is irrelevant in Pakistani politics (given the number of seats his party wins)
Imran Khan says things which make sense to a lot of people which makes other political forces feel threated by it and they are forced to respond with massive propaganda.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
Both are true to a certain degree.
Unfortunately in the grand scheme of things Imran's PTI does not impact the political scene as much as many wish it did...but having said that, PTI policies/statements do force other parties to grandstand and respond with propaganda.
So ultimately PTI is relevant but not enough to make the necessary change......yet.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
In this interview Imran is talking about Afghan Taliban, something that Pakistan shudn't be poking its nose into. We neither have resources nor the time or agenda to fix Afghanistan. There are numerous reports of Iran supporting Afghan Taliban, so what next we shud wage a war on Iran? Its an issue between US, Karzai and Taliban, let them find a solution to it.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
What will Imran haters do if negotiations are success?
Do you really think negotiations with them could be a success?
You asked this question from me but I don't lead a political party. Imran does. And besides his all-the-time criticism, the only solution he gives for Taliban issue is "negotiations".
Hence the question: What will he do if the negotiations fail?
One more thing. Pakistan has tried negotiations several time, and Saudis have arranged many rounds of negotiations themselves. None of them bore fruit.
So what exactly will Imran offer that will catch Taliban's attention? Let me guess, our surrender!
By the way, has Imran ever told us what his red lines would be in such negotiations? Any guidelines etc?
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
How can you even negotiate with people that have killed over 30,000 of your own innocent people? This is what I don't get, these people are like cancer and will continue spreading until we kill them off completely.
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
^EXACTLY. I respect Imran Khan but not when he is going to negotiate with terrorists. And Pakistani Gov. of past actually have tried this and peace deal didn't last long and fight and barbarism continued. So no negotiation with TTP. As far as Afghan Taliban, i don't think we should poke our nose into this mess as well. Lets fix our house first. arghh!!
Re: What will Imran do if negotiations with Taliban fail?
Lets get some things straight here.
Fact:
Imran Khan's PTI has a weak foreign policy stance due to inexperience and lack of guidance from qualified diplomats. He states that he will start with negotiations but may not be ready to explain B, C, D plans right now.
That can change if PTI actually breaks ground by landing some decent no. of seats in the next election as it may be able to attract the right people to be place on non-elected cabinet posts.
Undeniable Truth:
Imran Khan has more integrity, character and sincerity alone to override the crooks in the other supposed "experienced national" parties who although know the diplomatic tactics but will never be able to do anything since their leaders are sell outs completely!
Hence what Imran Khan lack in knowledge of diplomacy, he can easily overcome with inspiration, integrity and hard work.
PMLs, PPPs, MQMs go eat your heart out. You will never be as trusted as Imran Khan in Pakistan.
