What was your first experience with alcohol?

I can vouch for that . I have a very dear friend . He is alcoholic and a heavy smoker , he has lost all his teeth. He had 6 figure job but he could not keep it and now he is working at a gas station at minimum wage. The friends intervention could not save him from his addiction. He simply could not quit. I tried many times but finally gave up on him. May Allah be his guide and bring him back to the right path. Ameen.

I think if you are living in a non-muslim country, you must not be so restrictive about what you can and can't do.

My younger brother is very much into religion (following the right path and be the best you can be) and he QUIT his job because they were concentrating on promoting Alcohol and non-halal stuff. I think it's a bad decision in this economy - because there are no jobs out there! (He did not want anything to do with promoting Alcohol with advertisements and stuff).

I don't see Allah helping him find a halal job ever since he quit.

ur brother took a good decision and u should be proud of him, he has his faith on Allah instead of man made economy :) i made this decision long time back and i m in very good financial condition now

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

I guess since your inquiry is about experiences with alcohol and not specifically experiences with the “consumption” of alcohol, I guess I can jump in.

I’ve frequented bars and taverns with my colleagues at school and work, but never been tempted to join them in drinking. I order a coke or juice most the time and my friends respect my choice. There have been times when we’re celebrating a successful project at work… hell even a Gold medal win in North America… and yet with all the lively cheers, I was never pressured into drinking.

I’ve also seen a fair number of cases where some of my colleagues have made a fool of themselves after getting drunk and that’s acted as a secondary deterrent for me to stay away from booze. The downside… I end up being the designated driver most of the times.

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

:salam:
I’ve seen a real alcohol(wine) bottle twice in life ie. arriving at airport & departing .
The first time i laid eyes on an Alcohol bottle(not perfume ofcourse) was last year & it did not look appealing to me.I thought “eww,so that is what people die for”.I didn’t even go up close. For some weird reason it disgusted me.
At least when i used to see it on TV it would look cool(the bottle of course) but in real life it did not.

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

My Gore friends can not believe i have never drank b4, they act completely shocked like out of this world , and make me look like the dumbest thing in the world for not drinking with them...

We know what is right an what is wrong, so who cares what they think.....

The first experience I had with alcohol that I can remember must have been in the organic chemistry lab.

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

I was raised so strict (the stories I could tell) I never had any encounters with alcohol until very recently. It was offered to me by a table full of guys in a restaurant for my birthday. I just looked at it and (this was wierd) it didnt click to me this could be alcohol. It was a shot of something in a shot glass and completely clear in look. Everyone was looking at me and I just blurted out "What's that?"!

Yeah, my friends had a good laugh at my expense. The shot was taken by someone else and I enjoyed my virgin pina coladas...yumminess!!!!!

Aside from that, Ive never had any real exposure. Most of my friends dont drink in front of me. For work parties, I have kitty cocktails which are SO good!!! It looks just like a drink but better. Ive hosted New Year's Eve parties and I never served alcohol...if you want it...buy your own and have it outside please. I dont want to see it. :)

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

as umar talib said
never ATE it - but yeah its quite a norm to be fairly close to the action
the business lunches I go out to with visiting vendors or customers almost always have alcohol on the table, and I am the only one getting TUN on a glass of orange juice :mash:

one of the worst scenarios I can remember was a Christmas party at the office where my boss had a few too many, we were all standing in a circle, talking , and this guy had his glass in hand, which smelled like ( ewwwwwwwww :hayaa: ) and every once in a while he would burp or belch - right in my face

Excuse me? This is a muslim forum ??? I thought Pakistan tries to be secular on paper atleast.

Alcohol is awesome by the way :stuck_out_tongue: Ofcourse you need to know your limit.

LOL . Nice twist in the story.

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

Never! I have seen enough stupidity and mistakes of others to even try it - too damn bad that "enlightened" Pakis think its ok to drink.

This IS a secular forum. I didn't bring religion into my post and I think we should keep secular - believe me there is enough wrong with Alcohol even on a secular basis.

first time i got drunk was with a bunch of friends, it was raining we went to the store i sliped in a big puddle and it was comfy so i laid there and my friends had to drag me out of it... :@:

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

I get drunk alot of times but never did anything wrong or get the shyt out of me. Its up to us where we wanna go .. you wanted to fight.. or start praying.. aaah..what a experience. Few weeks ago i drank two red wine bottle in 3-4 hours and i was browsing "gupshup" religion forum ... pata nahi demagh mein kya aya.. i start reciting darood shareef .. .i can't explain how pure and .. i don't know what.. i just want to be in that state forever..

Any way drinking one glass of red wine is proven good for health :@:

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

My first experience with alcohol was when I was working in a lab and 100% proof alcohol was in large brown glass containers. When one opens the bottle, it gives out fumes. Me and my colleagues used to say "lambay Saans mat layna"!

Re: What was your first experience with alcohol?

saqi darey may khana abhi band nakarna
shaiad keh mujeh janat ki huwa raas na aay

My first experience was when I was 10-11 yrs old and we were flying to Florida.. it was some guy's birthday and the British Airways crew gave him a bottle of wine.. I guess he had it all because he was running up and down the aisle naked, screaming a couple of hours later. NOT a pretty sight or sound!
