I vaguely recall many talking about their first driving experience about how they were very nervous and made all sorts of mistakes. Some stories and mistakes I’ve heard of were enough for me to believe that learning to drive is likely a difficult task and actually passing the test a real challenge.
Oh yea... i remember .. i actually hit n ran da first time i started driving... some of da ppl in da parkin lot saw me too.. but they didn't say anything... thanks to Allah.. or i would've gotten a ticket and points on license da first day...but after dat..i learned from ma mistake and Alhumdulillah since den i never got in any accident or got pulled over by a cop or anything. It's been four yrs now.
I was driving pretty slow but wasn't making mistakes. My older bro was teaching me and I did pretty alright for the first time. Guess it's in my blood.
oh man..that was ages ago.
i remember my mom took me to this empty leon’s parking lot - it was a sunday - and back then the stores were closed..so we had the parking lot to ourselves.
i remember my mom sitting on the passenger side, actually pushing down her foot as to stop the car but of course she couldn’t..and she’d just get mad at me
..and by the end of my first driving lesson, when i came out of the car, my right leg was all stiff cause i was so nervous the whole time…
I didn't learn to drive in a parking lot. We went to lake one day and on the way back, my dad asked me to drive so I could learn. I was 14. I drove on the main road which went pretty good. Then we had to stop at an uncle's house on our way back to our house. Dad asked me to just pull over to the side so he could quicky go see his friend. When I pulled over to the side, their garbage can was also at the curb. I pulled over a little too close and hit garbege with the passenger side mirror. That was my first day.
I was okay after that. I've been driving for about 8-9 years now and I've only had 2 accidents (nothing serious, just because of not paying attention and brakes skidded when I suddenly applied them)
i grew up behind the wheel, on my abbu’s lap - so when my legs could reach the pedal, my abbu let me speed thru the desert…mind u this was in ksa - and had i gotten caught - we wud’ve been screwed **BIG **TIME
i took my written test 3 times over the summer to pass and get my license though
Oh dear God......i was 15 and my Aboo Jee took me it started off with an empty parking lot on a stick shift car and the same day he took me on the highway...i thought i was going to die coz i could hear my heart pounding and i did get a warning on a learning permit...hahahaha
I took driver's ed in school and it was a horrible experience. My instructor was such a meanie and I would freak out every time I was behind the wheel.
Then my father taught me how to drive - started out w/ the parking lot and moved on to empty roads on Sunday mornings :)
i dont remember....but i do remember when i had my permit went to Ct and went on a joy ride with my cousin at midnight...drivin at night is much funnier then the day
My first day was awesome.... it took me abt 10 mins just to start the car (hheheh...the clutch was out of control)...another 10 mins to get it on the main road (the worst mistake ever done by me)....i drove smoothly until a turn came & without braking i turned thus skidding the tyres (spoiled one of the tyres).... nearly missed hitting a rickshaw, motorcycle & a BUS (Mr. DumboHeroica was born)...finally after not having a single dent or accident (all be grace to Allah & my Mom's Dua) i came home only to get the steering out of control (hands were all sweaty) and slammed it into a small tree... car was fine...tree needed amputation... grew back after a year...
It wasn't so bad for the majority then I suppose. I've heard stories such as pressing on the gas instead of the break, going in wrong lanes with head-on traffic, and just being nervous and swerving the car a lot.
Alhamdulillah, my first experience wasn't bad either. I drove fine. I don't recall doing anything silly or stupid with the exception of not completely stopping at the STOP sign and coming from a small street and making an attempt to drive on without stopping and looking for the traffic on a major avenue.
My friend taught me all i knew, so when i began taking lessons with the driving instructor, i was quietly confident and alhumdulillah i passed my test first time.
