For those brides out there who are packing for an overnight suitcase, post shadi function if they have some sort of hotel room booked, here's some random advice of what I packed for mine:

-two casual clothes
-two formal ****
-one pair of comfortable shoes , flats for wearing with the casual clothes. I figure the heels from the shadi dress can work with the formals if need be. *************************-Some artificial jewelry matching with the casual and formal you've packed. It would be good if the artificial jewellery is something which can go with all four*****

The above are just in case I don't feel upto opening the bigger suitcase immediately and also in case the hotel stay extends to two days or more for whatever unforeseen reason

-Bathroom slippers/kolapuri. Basically the most comfortable shoes you can think of.**************

**-Empty hard box for jewelry which you will take off. you want to wrap this stuff up in tissue paper if you are going with a box which isn't custom made for your set but rather a smaller one. But it MUST be a hardbox to prevent damage to jewelry.

-Locks and keys x2 just in case

-Own shampoo, normal conditioner and one DEEP conditioner/hair treatment product to work out the backcombing and whatnot

-Murad's deep cleanser (this one is great, use any cleanser but it's better if it's a deep cleansing product. That makeup is stubborn, it lasted the entire day and the spotlights, it won't be coming off easy)

-Night cream, B*****ody Moisturizer* and Apricot Scrub**

-Nail polish remover, cotton balls and cotton buds for makeup removal

-Toothpaste and toothbrush

-Hair scrunchie and hair pins

-No night clothes, waste of space (i figure go with husband's wardrobe for sleepwear)

-My watch of daily wear which goes with everything

-Deodorant** and perfume **

-Hairdryer along with heat protectant serum and hairbrushes x2 (round bristle one and one normal brush)**

-Contraception (I'm putting it out there for you girls. It is your body, just in case have something on hand yourself too, you share the responsibility. Husband might forget after all he has a lot on his plate too)

-Basic makeup (lipgloss, rouge, liner, mascara, blush, foundation)

-M**edications - ibuprofen, paracetamol, ponstan and antiallergic pills

-Dermovate ointment to soothe the skin after application/removal of such heavy bridal makeup (this works wonders in soothing - you could also do an aloe vera based cream)

-**MONEY. In case you need to give any to sarbala or whatever, have 5000 in 500 rupee notes with you

-Socks. Heard this from my married friends, nothing like socks to make you feel comfy and at home. Goes a long way in relaxing you.

Sigh also, just in case you turn absolutely obtuse I'll add this to the list as well

-Tampons/Sanitary Pads just in case. EVEN IF you aren't expecting periods that time of the month, they may occur simply from the stress and tension of it.

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

yes :) there will be more to add.. its going to be 3 to 5 night stay then will be heading to hubz home town

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

Thanks Dems. I’m going to save your list so I can refer to it nearer to the big day. :flowers:

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

okay..I am serious here so please dont laugh it off : an extra bed-sheet please ! you wont want to end up washing (if needed) and drying it with a hairdryer first thing in the morning(if needed..you know what I mean) :smack: it happened to one of my friends whose mil came in the morning to ask if she needed anything and the only thing she asked for was a new bedsheet :bummer: and eversince this is the first thing she tells everyone to keep in the suitcase

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

Dem's is a good one!

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

yes you are right, but that is for inlaw’s home naturally

this list is for the hotel stay

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

sigh I have another list altogether of what i have kept in my inlaw's house in our furnished room

but if you guys have not kept an extra set of bed linens in your furnished room, then prototype's addition of a bed sheet is a brilliant and ESSENTIAL point

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

fake blood capsule for nosy mil, board games in case guy develops performance anxiety, chafing cream for healthy couples, a basic anatomy checklist..

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

^ um thats perverted and disgusting - mods please clean up the above crap.

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

hi demizzm :p

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

I would actually care more for hotel's bedsheets ! too embarrassing to call housekeeping for a sheet change

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

^ actually no. strip the bed yourself, bundle it up in a corner and when housekeeping comes in for daily cleaning theyll understand.

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

i LOVE this thread - remember you gota bling bling when you come back so add a matching clutch with your shoes or formals to wear on your way back ... id also love to keep my hair straightener ... and also a couple of my hubz supplies (remember he doesnt bring the suitcase) on his request ...

dont forget your intimate washes !!! a big necessity!

wraps it up!!

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

^ since I'll have my car when I am headed back with husband, i dont need a clutch. car has the suitcases anyway for the trip to another city. i can walk in with my casual bag and shoes into my inlaws home on the first day. rest I can be blinged out anyway

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

I still would disapprove doing that ! I cant imagine them laughing off with dirty jokes while washing them :bummer: anyway, to each, their own  good luck !

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

^ haan perhaps but then again it is a fact of life. blood aside, other bodily fluids stain the sheets every time the act is performed. blood is just a one time thing, would you spend your life being embarassed and taking on the hassle or be adult about it?

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

iA it will help you make sure that you arent stranded without something that particular day.

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

You need to PM me details.

as for the hair straightener, a paddle brush and hairdryer does wonders with my hair and leaves volume. The heat intensity is also not as much as a straightener and I would advise you to save your poor hair additional trauma since you will be straightening it for days on end till the post shadi functions finish. You have time, learn to blow dry in sections with a paddle brush and a round brush for desired effects.

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

I never had the need to stay at a hotel out here in States, but when I was in Pakistan, everytime I stayed at a hotel I would take sheets/pillow cover and my own blanket with me. I'm not married or anything but I'm not sure if the bedsheets and stuff they hotels use are brand new or if they washed them. I find it disgusting sleeping on sheets where like hundreds of people probably went hanky panky on. I'm paranoid of such stuff.

Re: What to pack in the overnight suitcase

I guess it depends on the hotel. I'm not worried since I know the one I booked won't have such issues
