Hey guys,
I’m going to England in July for 20 days to visit some family and it is the first time I am going. I grew up in the states, so I know the culture there is kind of different from here.
So, what should I look out for? What might offend them? What should I not say? What should I say? Where should I shop and what shops should I avoid? Plus, my budget is pretty tight.
Shopping is expensive in the UK. You may want to buy some chocolates that are not easily available in the US such as smarties, Quality Street, Cadbury etc. Public transport is easily available. If I were you and on a tight budget I would do as much sight seeing as possible. The Uk is a great place for that esp. if you are into historical places.
I am going to Manchester. I also forgot to ask about the weather. I read that there will be a lot of rain during July, but is sunshine possible? I don't like rainy days. :(
Aah man, I always say have a nice day/weekend. If I do say it, will they think I am some kind of a weirdo?
Haha, why shouldn't I say fanny pack?
No, there's nothing wrong with saying have a nice day. Its just very American. Fanny means something else here! We call them bum bags...although no one uses them any more, so why you would want to say that is beyond me!
I am going to Manchester. I was googling and it said it will rain a lot in July. Do you think I will at least be able to enjoy some sunny days?
I've never actually been to Manchester myself! Yeah, there should be some sun, but its more likely to rain, so be prepared for sunshine and showers.
If you’re going to Manchester, definitely go to a restaurant called Zouk Also Sweet Box on Wilmslow Road - a Halwa Puri breakfast is a must from there!
Hmm... Nawaab just if you want to eat a lot of food. Wouldn't go there again.
Zouk is just overpriced for what it is and the food isn't particularly amazing either. Really, I expected the standard of food to be better in Manchester.
