Re: What to expect when going to England?
Thanks guys! Definitely helped me to be prepared. I also wanted to ask about the clothes, cosmetics, handbags, and shoes that I should take there. But I guess I'll head to Fashion section.

Re: What to expect when going to England?
I haven't read the whole thread so not sure if someone mentioned it. Do check out Trafford Park / Trafford Center. When I went there for a coupla days we went to Bradford, to Wilmslow Road and Trafford Center.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
Do include Bradford in your trip. Bradford is known for it's desi kaanay, Akbar's and Mumtaz are very popular.
For desi shopping it has UK's biggest desi department store 'Bombay Stores'. Also go to White Abbey Road and Leeds Road for Desi shopping. Pakistani Bazaar on Killinghall Road is also famous.
Trafford Centre in Manchester shouldnt be missed and of course our famous Wilmslow Road. :)
Be prepared for wet weather.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
I wouldn't recommend bradford to someone coming from the US.
They will leave with a terrible impression of our little island.

Lmao how true!
OP visit Manchester and London obviously.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
I definitely will visit London and I will check out Bradford. I love seeing new places, so I am sure I would not leave UK with a bad impression. ![]()
… … i hope ![]()
Re: What to expect when going to England?
Trust me Bradistan is like going to pakistan.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
if you plan on coming down to london, ensure that you plan out your travelling because of olympics.
go to camden, drugs there are totally worth your while. that's my recommendation for the month.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
Drugs! Nice! I’ll definitely go. ![]()
scared
Re: What to expect when going to England?
Lol...Camden is a weird place, but otherwise London is cool. Don't be scared!

Why not? what knowledge do you have of Bradford? If you are going by the negative image portrayed by the media, then you are highly mistaken Bradford Mela is one of the biggest melas in Bradford and all communities come and join in the fun, if you go to Bombay Stores, you are guaranteed to see white people shopping there. English people fill up many of Bradford's restaurants.
Trust me Bradistan is like going to pakistan.
We could say the same about southall, Forest Gate and many other towns in the UK. Where is it you live?
Please don't go by these biased opinions of Bradford. You make your own opinion of it, you won't be disappointed. Let me know if you need any more info.
Happy journey.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
I have visited bradford on numerous occassions and I dont think a North American would like to be honest.
But each to their own.
I grew up in the middle of no where!

I wouldn't willingly go to either of those places.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
^hahaha... we were supposed to have a 10 hour layover in UK (we spent 5 hours in the airport to get the visa) and we ended up with 5 hours in guess where Southall... I don't think I liked it too much....
I hope I change my view about UK on my next visit inshAllah
Re: What to expect when going to England?
Trust me you’ll love England parts of it are just like Pakistan anyway
Oh and if your worried about the far right activity in the press dont be bothered by it at all… I rubbed elbows with some of the most extreme among them and they wouldn’t dare try anything too stupid becuase they know they wont last so just enjoy yourself budy

There are so many fantastic places in the UK which are beautiful and fun and quaint please dont make southall and bradford holiday destinations....
My cousins from pakistan went there and got parshaan!
Its like going to NY and only seeing jackson heights or going to Toronto and only seeing gerrard street!
Re: What to expect when going to England?
If you assume it's going to rain the whole time you're there, anything other is a bonus.
Food wise
Apart from the stufff mentioned in this thread, Caspian on wilmslow road for persian food.
Another oddball place I've found is K2Taj Chippy in Manchester (what an odd name) try their persian chips, Chicken Tikka chips, anything with chips really.
While you're here, head up into the lakes, well worth visiting, TBH stay away from anywhere that has asian people and you should see some nice places.
If you really want a treat, head down the M6 to the Black Country Museum near Birmingham, trust me this place is worth the visit, you can also visit cadbury world while you're there (there are 2 for 1 coupons floating around the internet)
I can't believe people here are suggesting she goes to Bradford, WTH? Bradford is a total dive, you're essentially going into the Ghetto.
The only redeeming feature in Bradford is the M606 out of there.
Re: What to expect when going to England?
Thank you guys!
MY LIST
GO TO: London, Go to the Zouk and Nawab restaurants in Manchester, Trafford Center/Park, Birmingham, Leeds, Wilmslow Road, and I would have to think about Bradford. I think I would want to go just because I love seeing new places. I just hope to have an awesome time and see a lott of new places! InshAllah!

Omgomgomg. Someone else who likes the Black Country Museum - TOTALLY amazing place. As a local I visit at least once a year and never get bored!
