what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

as we know whenever we eat, we often got bloat, but we don;t want to cause any bloat on mehndi, wedding day, walima,

i am vegetarian and please advise what to eat and not to eat to stop bloat.
it will be in summer in pakistan. we always drink a lot of water but that water cause bloat too!
in breakfast time maybe just a couple of toast with a little butter, then lunch 2 brown rotis with vegetable, evening same again. we always like icecream, mangoes milkshakes which we eat every night! also i know samosas, pokoras are not allowed but we like it as the smell is good whenever it is cooking outside in the market.

on wedding day, maybe we eat less rice, with a lot of salads to avoid bloat as normal

thanks

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

Stay away from complex carbs (cookies, candies, chips, samosay, fried foods, junk food) because this will pack on the pounds.

Instead opt for simple carbs (apples, kiwi fruit, melons, sweet potatoes).

A diet of fruits and veggies and plenty of water will help keep your skin glowing.

Drink low-fat yogurt lassi twice a day (mix 3-4 big tablespoons of yogurt with water in a glass until smooth). Yogurt contains cultures that clean out your digestive track and destroy harmful pimple causing bacteria.

My recommendation is to eat roti or chawal only once a day. So, let's say that you eat one roti or chawal for dinner............then just have a salad for lunch. You can include diced egg and diced chicken in your salad to add protein and energy.

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

wow redvelvet,.. dats SOO helpfull.. my coznz shaadi is coming up and iam gonna use dat for me :P hehehe

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

what velvet siad. Also, stay away from dried foods..like nuts and stuff. They have a "garam taseer" and tend to break peope out. I made that mistake a week before the shaadi..and well, i learned it the hard way ;)

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

water water water......if its only 3 days before then you can pretty much cut out all carbs....and replace with protein....and saldss....and waters and juices....its ok for 3 days.....i did a 3 day fruit and yoghurt diet before my cusin wedding 2 yrs back...and trust me, my lengha which was a tight fit before, was more comfy on the day and slighly loosr.....when the food was served i ate normally again cos its ok by then, you wont suddenly gain it all back...but 3 days is max for no carbs.....try it..

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

tomato juice really worked wonders for me. (but im a huge tomato juice fan too). my husband hates it and it makes him throw up.. so if you're not allergic to it, id suggest you to drink atleast 2 glasses everyday. Also load up on lots of leafy dark green veges. I love arugula, so I would have that in a big bowl and toss it with balsamic vinaigrette.
Rest I would follow everyone else advise here. No fried, fatty, yummy stuff. Plus, I'm sure all of us are soo motivated to want to look our bestest for our wedding, and you're telling me youre a vegan so I don't see any problems in you being able to avoid all that for a few weeks.
And you don't eat meat so that's another good thing foryou. B/c I also avoided spicy food like nahari and stuff. Didnt wanna risk anything. good luck for your wedding!

As for what I recall from my wedding day, I think I had cereal for breakfast and some tomato juice. Later mom just fed me some fruits and I had some left over kababs from the mehndi with lots of yogurt. I think I did take a few nibbles off a roti, but couldn't eat properly. I don't think anyone can. You have butterflies in your stomach... can't possibly eat! And like most brides, I was too nervous to eat during the shadi too. My bro fed me a few fries randomly and this glass of juice was handed to me. But we had dinner once I got to my husband's place, so it wasn't that bad.

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

bhenjee?
wot is arugula?...
me never heard of dat...

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

my iron is very low so i am drinking a lot of fresh oranges juices so far. but never drink tomotoes juice i saw them in supermarket and will they help me with digestive or nothing will happen?
what is lassi? is it fresh plain yoghurt mix with half glass of water and drink it daily at breakfast time? what about mangoes milkshake, is it not allow for 3 days before shaadi?

thank you for your advise. oh yeah, what about fresh managoes, bananas? grapes (green one)?

i find it very strange because you said keeping drinks a lot of water, that cause my stomach bloat! is it because i eat something then drink water cause bloat.
everytime i go to different peopl's houses they offer us fizzy drink, they don;t have clean water bottle, sometime i have it in my car inside fridger but sometime it is empty cos it is very cold and fresh!
what do with emergency if there is no water available. because i don;t want to use their ice cubes which come from tap water.
i never drink tea or coffee.
but love to eat biscuits! i will keep myself control this year, in the past they always offer these fried foods but no healthy food! everytime they offer me samosa, jalebis, biscuits and some fizzy drinks, i have not choice and i could not said NO i am on diet, i would be hungry and thirsty.

SALADS: is that salad bar which contain pototoes, chickpea and kidney bean salads which available in salad bar in shop and Pizza Hut salads or is it differnet type of salad.

one of you said eat normal food at lunch then dinner salads only. so that is why i thought cucumber is part of salad with lettuce will not help me fill full. is it okay to order salad bar contain a lot of different beans?

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

^^^^^starches (pasta, potaotes) shouldnt make up the majority of your salad--make u gain weight....

Salad meaning tomatoes, lettuce (or other leafy green vegetables), celery, carrots, beets, onions, olives, cucumbers, bell peppers (green, yellow, red, orange), artichokes.....now for the starches--add only a few (20% of ur salad)

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

everyone's diff--i prefer salad at lunch:) with a sandwich of course...

oatmeal's another great thing for breakfast:)

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

Didnt change anything from my usual eating habits :)

similar to spinach but smaller. less bitter than the normal spinach hence, easier to eat raw in salads :) should be easily available at your local grocery store. Just check for the expiry before you get it. They don't have a very long fridge-life

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

and lolz@ fayax @ shaadi hai koi Hajj to nahin! dats funny :D

Re: what to eat and not eat a few day before shaadi

hi again

when i went to pakistan for my cousin's wedding, every day i ate roti with some vegetable curries, such as ladyfinger, chickpea, pototoes curry with a lot of salads (onions and cucumber) but when i finish my stomach quick bloat after eat these healthy foods, i am not sure why, doctor said it is normal to have bloat after foods, but on my wedding day i don;t want to have normal bloat i want flat notmal stomach which i have when i wake up in the morning, i want to avoid eating foods on wedding day but it will make me very weak and no energy but stomach keep flat which is perfect.

any ideas why i have bloat suddenly as they are healthy.

maybe i plan to drink a glass of milk only in morning before go to parlour. in parlour i drink 1 glass of water before make up on.

then in shaadi, i eat 1 naan (no roti served) dip with yoghurt mix with salads. then i drink 1 glass of water. then later i go to stage.

is it suitable and will it help me stop bloat come out?
