A person who has 300+ ODI’s/50+ T20’s/30+ tests/15+ years of experience under the belt, YET, comes in to bat with 5 players down, and what does he do, the f****** same crap, tries to hit the ball out of the park, 1st ball. You have to be extremely stupid to do that. People of less talent with a brain would try to knock a few balls around, get their eye in, and then “try” to play their shots.
If he gets out to a good ball, fine, there is lil’ you can do about that (I know as I have played cricket all my life). But what he did today, and what he has been doing for the past 10 or so matches just doesn’t make sense. He is not even contributing with the ball.
the question I have for people here (especially Afridi fans) → Do you believe he deserves a place in the side? Specially, if we have Razzaq sitting on the bench.
The concerns I have are the following:
I sincerely believe he is “underperforming” intentionally to bring down Hafeez’s captaincy. Why I think that way. I can not fathom for somebody to be THAT stupid to do what he tried to do today (or other days as well).
He will “try” to perform well in one of the upcoming matches to hold his place. Which is “selfish” and is a concern for me.

Your comments please?
Bat him at 10 and just play him as a bowler thats it...
Serisouly then what you think of Shoaib Malik too?
That, or drop him altogether, he’s had enough fun in the sun. My thesis is that he is 42 years old now, and he is losing his reflexes. You can tell it by the way he bats, fields and bowls. The intensity is just not there, and dropping every match. Still, being a natural athlete, he is carrying himself, but really, someone should give him the memo.
It’s absolutely necessary we groom a couple of new players in his stead. A good all-rounder, preferably.
Doesnt matter if that sensible innings doesnt win you the watch like he did today he is only good for domestic or either against India
this thread is not about Shoaib, it is about Afridi, so I will refrain from commenting on why Shoaib is there.
Personally, I don't like Shoaib either but I like him (from Cricketing sense, not from politics) better than Afridi.

Better than Afridi lol
Can you turn with some stats to prove this statement of your?
Afridi is an enigma of sorts. don't rule him out. He is definitely out of form but his inform with his current age, only means 30 odd quick fire runs and 3+ wickets.
don't expect him to be a peg that steadies the ship when its sinkings
Send him as an opener for a change. We got nothing to lose even if we lose him in first over. A wicket in first 2..3 overs in T20 almost mean nothing but if he fires, he will mean everything to the opponent.
There were similar calls for him during 2009 WC but he got in form just at the right time. However, that time he was at least bowling well and taking wickets at will. That helped his batting too.
Right now he's bowling OK. And he is trying to hit himself in form by a few sixes and fours in early overs. His body language is not his usual enthusiastic one. Match against India might be the one to bring him in form. Lets hope so.
