Re: What to do when...

Oh. Well, I don't think such people are everywhere. Didn't have these kind of problems during other jobs before.

Re: What to do when...

Not rumours spread IN my family, ABOUT my family. I know it's weird, but how else would anyone explain this nonsence?

some reliable friends plus family member (including my parents) confirmed this!

Re: What to do when...

Re: What to do when...

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've decided. I told my boss today I'm looking for another pharmacy to finish the learning period. I still have to check with my home school wether or not they will allow that. If they say yes, I can go for it. :) insha Allah

Re: What to do when...

INSHALLAH everything will be alright :)

Re: What to do when…

Well, I quit. Yesterday it was my last day at work. Now that ramadan has started, I wanted to know if at least during Ramadan I could keep my hijab on.

When I asked that, one of my bosses said he noticed lately I was ‘looking for the border’, by which he meant I was going to far! I have never made an issue of my hijab, when my other boss told me I wasn’t allowed to wear one I removed it quietly. But the weird part is, when I came there to talk the second time, during selections, I saw and talked to this girl from Maroc or Turkey, who was there wearing her hijab! When I asked about that later, they said, oh she was just here a ccouple of days, to see what it’s like and she’s not behind the counter. But neither was I! In the beginning you don’t stand behind the counter, you have to learn mixing and making creams, and capsules and everything. I find this weird reasoning.

Anyway, I just asked at the end of the day, politely that now that Ramadan has begun, I would like to keep it on. What sawab will I get if I remove that hijab everytime? Then what’s the use of fasting anyway?

They say they don’t want to provoke people at the counter who might say nasty things about my hijab, but you know, only 15 minutes (on the bike) away from that pharmacy, is another pharmacy where I always get my childrens medication and my own. I have seen a girl or woman working behing the counter there WITHOUT their hijab. They have no bad experiences with their costumers!

I’ve never made an issue out of that hijab, I listened to them and took it off.

Yet he’s accusing me of almost crossing the border when I pose that question politely and calmly???

Well, the other boss was kind and told me my colleagues didn’t like it, that I stopped sitting with them at tea hours and instead kept working.
They should have said something then instead of acting even more nasty towards me! The only reason I stopped drinking tea with them, was because they kept provoking me, I told my boss that, she says she didn’t know. They kept ridiculing and provoking me. What’s the use of letting other people do that to me? They didn’t stop provoking and ridiculing me, when I kept smiling and remained polite and helpfull from my side. There was nothing left for me to do, but stop sitting with them during each break adn instead just keep working.

Well, I guess I handled it the wrong way too then.

You know what, the next interview I go to, I’m going to tell them, when it comes to discussing what I want from them from my side, that I would like people to respect each other instead of keep ridiculing and provoking others. I don’t fight back. Adn usually stay quiet. But when after weeks and months it doesn’t stop. I have to take a step back. First I’ll try to see if opening my mouth more helps. If it doesn’t, then I won’t socialise with them. This isn’t kindergarten. It’s a job for heavens sake.

I’ve been tested before, which is normal, of course you want to see what fish you have caught in your net. Bu in other jobs it wasn’t as bad as the colleagues here! They always became normal after a while, and the tested me in a polite way. We test people too who work for my parents. We never ever resort to the mean tactics and words as those colleagues from that pharmacy!

But she was nice to me, the other boss and she said she really didn’t know it was that bad.

Oh well, that means in the future, if I ever do get such provoking and ridiculing colleagues again, (BOY I HOPE NOT!), I have to keep having tea breaks with them instead of taking my distance from them. And I musn’t remain silent and polite all the time either, but some of you were right, I should open up my mouth more.

I hope I get another pharmacy quickly and I also hope to have normal colleagues who will still show respect even if they perhaps won’t like me.

Please pray for me, that I quickly find another pharmacy and that Allah guides me rightly this time to handle things better insha Allah.

I’m glad I quit.

Re: What to do when...

Re: What to do when...

Yes, it's true, I did betray my religion. I gave that peace of paper more worth than my religion. Maybe this was Allah's punishment to show me taht once again, I was going the wrong way. I'm not going to work again in a place where I can't wear my hijab.

Re: What to do when…

Re: What to do when...

Apology acceped, bro. :)

Re: What to do when...

well , first of all they have no rights to say anything is related to ur religon. you still can wear hijaab while u r working there. if they don't agree then u can take some actions on it.

ALLAHAMDOLIAH whatever done in the past , don't worry INSHLLAH everything will be good.

Re: What to do when...

My supervisor and i had a little argument over something I seriously feel she needs to appologize to me but she didnt. We right there and then decided we will deal with each other on professional bases only.

some tips for you... CYA cover your A&& always.

This is really funny in the past whoever i didnt like or didnt get along with has left the company. My manager does makes stupid mistakes but fails to realize it but one day he will learn.

If it really bothers you obviosuly it has and i think they have insulted you and taking advantage of you. Speak up hun.

I would sit down with the main boss and have all those employees come and have a meeting. But before the meeting i would make sure i would have evidence. either record their words and sue their a@@ big time.

Or you can do what i do. People at work do pass comments here and there i make sure i get my point across and dis them out. Don't take S* and i dont give S* either..... unless you ask for it..

If you cant beat them join them... learn their ways and then smack the crap out of them....
