The Imam has two choices when he breaks prayer either after realising that he didn’t have wudu or if during prayer he passes wind and loses wudu.
a) > He can either pull someone from the line behind him and put him in charge to continue
b) > He can either do nothing and simply walk away.
If the crowd realise that he exercised choice b) then they have two choices:
to push someone or a volunteer to continue
to continue in their own prayers by themselves
An account that has been recorded by Ibn-ul-Jawzee (with isnad - that he heard from someone who heard from someone who was actually there) in his book “Fools and Simpletons”
He records the following paraphrased account:
The Imam loses his wudu and looks back and props the most pious looking man to the lead and walks away to renew his wudu. He returns to see that the man has just held the crowd of people without moving … And the Imam could not hold himself any longer and asks him, “what are you doing?” the reply he got was …
just asking a question, as he might feel ashamed moving away like that.
Then he will be held accountable for his own void prayer and all the people standing behind him. Their prayer will be accepted if they remain without knowledge of this fact.
just asking a question, as he might feel ashamed moving away like that.
ok...i think no one with right mind would do that, especially God-fearing imam.
How does the imam walk away without walking in front of others?
in Jamaat, as i know, Imam's Sutrah is everyone's Sutrah. in other words, if you do not walk in front of Imam in your way out/in you don't break anyone's Salah.
OK a really technical question. Lets say that Imam was going for the sajda awhen he broke his wudu, By the time he realized, he was in sajda already, but he actually broke the wudu before the sajda. Now if he pulls a man from behind him, chances are that the second imam will start the prayer from the second sajda. That means that technically 1st sajda never happened. Will the namaz still be valid? Is the imam obligated to tell the new imam where to start the salat from?
Never seen/heard such thing ever happened. Well, have anyone of you leaded a Namaaz as Jamaat? (in case if you reached late and the jamaat is over then two or more then two start another Jamaat) If so then I guess you'll have more fear then reading behind an Imam b'coz all the time you'll fear that what if in your namaaz, there is no Khushoo & Khudhoo and on the day of Judgement you'l be held responsible for ruin of your namaaz as well as on behalf of all those who prayed behind you.
I think the Imam is fully prepare when he leads a Jamaat and be sure that such incident shouldn't happen while leading Jamaat.
