Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
What is this tread about....your encounter by people who are just plain old rude and lack manners of how to communicate. Is this their way of feeling "superior" over you or anyoe for that matter.
Let people like that know that you are happy with what ever and however you look...and they should not compare themselves with you. What a bunch of morons I must add. Nothing better to do!!
Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
ok.. i will entertain you.
why is it anyone's business about how 'big' a bride is? or how she dresses after marriage? or any of the other million questions. as long as she is happy and feels confident who gives a crap. people who want to talk will always find something to talk about.
p.s. sry 2 say buy size 12 UK is not what it used to be. the average size of the population has increased and so have sizes. the smallest used to be a size 10, now you get a size 6 or even 4 in most high street shops, but they aren't obscenely small. 6/8 is about what a 10 used to be 8 years ago. everyone knows it. so yea, size 12 is getting on the heavy side as far as i'm concerned and i dunno why people try to deny or make excuses. but who cares if you are healthy and happy.
IM NOT thaT TALL, average height and of medium frame...and though its a normal size otherwise, for a wedding i get the feleings its a bit big...and all my csins in pak are like haii moti even though to be honest i think i look good, as does alot of people here but pakissss are another dimension...they all really skinnyyyy, so anyone compared to them looks fat. and i have to say to themwell atleast i get fed, it shows im from a well off western background as opposed to .....` well i said this last time i think they think im a total ***** now...
Yah ur rite man pakis are stupid. Uh im like 10 times bigger than u, i was a bride, and as far as I know noone made any stupid comments. 2 + years and well none of them ahve been to my face anyways. i was always made fun of for my weight but surprisingly i have nto heard one nasty thing abt it from my wedding anyways.
Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
People back home are really annoying. Seriously. Don't please them. Your wedding is about you and your husband, that's it.
As long as you are comfortable with your weight, and are HEALTHY, you shouldn't be concerned about your dress size.
It's very very sad that many Pakistani's are malnourished, but you cannot see thru their eyes and make yourself the type of bride that they think are pretty or whatever.
Just stay fit and healthy, and you will look your best :)

Most men (in my opinion) would prefer a woman wit curves as opposed to a woman who is stick-thin and flat and straight as a rail.
As far as your wedding is concerned.......well........it depends on your overall look and how you carry yourself, hon. A super skinny girl may not look very attractive as a bride. And a more curvy and CONFIDENT woman might look GORGEOUS as a bride.
You said that you've been told by many people that you're attractive. So, that's a good thing. Your attractiveness depends on more than just body shape. It also depends on your facial features, style, and attitude. There are some people who are really skinny but not very attractive....in the facial sense.
Have confidence in yourself. If your fiance did not find you attractive, I doubt he'd agree to marry you. IN a few threads you have said that you're beautiful and have been told so by many people. So......now what happened? You'll be fine. Just carry yourself with confidence, girl!
Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
he rv, thanks, yeh no im fine, see i dnt really care.but iv been told to care because on ur weddign day you have to look good and for other people its being skinny, i think alot of people associate being slim as the be all and end all....
i am happy, but its annoying hearing comments from the pakisss sooooo tiring...and i want to respond without sounding rude..but i always sound rude

Nadz, I don't go around telling people that they are too skinny, too fat, too pimply, etc. Because...........these things are of no interest to me. I keep my thoughts (negative) to myself. As far as comments are concerned........I either only give positive comments.........or if I'm asked for an opinion........I do my best to give positively worded suggestions.
Sometimes I cannot believe the NERVE of some people to bluntly make comments about the way others look....when they themselves are not perfect.
Look........if your cousin thinks you look beautiful in your regular everyday clothes..........then he will think you are GORGEOUS when you're decked out in your lehnga, makeup, jewelry, etc. And same goes for the people in your life that already think you're pretty. To them, you will look even more beautiful on your wedding day.
Please don't let your snotty cousins and aunties get you down. If they give you practical suggestions for your skin/hair.......then take it into consideration. However.......for the peope who refuse to be helpful........and have nothing better to do than make fun of you...........ignore them. They're jealous, insecure, and should be paid no mind.
**
Bottom line: **You do what you feel is best for you as an individual. If you feel you should lose a few pounds......then do it for YOU. Not for anyone else. And nothing is more attractive than confidence.
Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
size 10/12 is not fat. Pakistani's always whinge about something or the other. either they take the piss out of your urdu/punjabi accent, what you wear... what you say and by how you look, the minute you do it to them we are suddenly labeled b*****. And then my mothers generation talk about nice pakistani born larkiya and larke are. yeh right!
Gina.......I have a fetish for fish tail/mermaid style lehngas! :) I also have a fetish for turquoise and red color combination in bridal wear. And yes........I have a fetish for fishtail/mermaid bridal lehnga in turquoise and blue. And when I have my mind set on a certain style.....there's no budging. LOL :)
I'm off topic.....back to Nadz.
Nadz...G-girl is right! Opt for a flowy lehnga as opposed to fishtail.
I know.. RV but something's have to be according to u're figure and a lehnga is one of them :) fish-tails are hip-hugging and if u're bottom-heavy = oops!
Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
exactlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
im fair skinned and many oif my cusins are alot darker, and they keep sayingaap apney face ko bleach karti hain and im like wtf, no i do not bleach my face. they refuse to beleive its my skin culour, they kp pestering me and wathing me day and night to see if i go and shove a load of fair and lovely on...which i dnt. they all use it in pakistan and i laugh everytime they take their bottle out cos its made no difference to them. but they thik cos im from london thats why im fair..........or cos i dnt drink coffee thats why im fair..or some other BS......
SO thats why they make fun of my size...cos even though im not fat, they will call me fat cos they want to make fun of somethingto make themselves feel better
Re: so is size 12(UK) thats 8/10 usa, too big for a bride?
NAdz you are absolutely right. THey are just looking for something negative about you, even if it doesnt exsist. Im not sure about sizes and all. I'm in US, and all sometimes i fit into a small for some things, and sometimes its a large, it really depends on how the clothes are cut. So don't let this get to you.
I have recently gained weight and went to a friends wedding a few weeks ago. Last time these people saw me I was about 20 lbs less which makes a BIG difference on a short person. I was prepared for the "to phele patli thi nah" comments. I just smiled and said... what can I say, I have a full tiime job at an office, where i sit on my A** and talk to people on the phone all day, and I get paid VERY well, and my company is always feeding me.... and I asked the auntys if they had an suggestions, and if I should start working in retail stores where I get to run around all day and get paid minimum wage like their daugthers. That shut them up. LOL and I wasnt rude about it either.
Re: what sort of bridal outfit should a curvier woman wear so as not to look bigger
i wud suggest u shud avoid lite colours.. i mean u knw da saying..dark makes u look thin and lite makes u look big.... so like inda red shade..go towards da maroon side..instead of da pink side..lol
Re: what sort of bridal outfit should a curvier woman wear so as not to look bigger
If you're curvy...stay away from mermaid/fish tails. Do not opt for shirts that are short and stop abruptly at the waist...creates a horizontal line you might not want and sometimes the cloth bunches up and looks bulky on someone with a curvier figure.
Do not invest in heavy cloth or material...like pure silk jamavar.
Stay away from round/boat necks. V necks and square necks look nicer.
I would go for chiffon jamavar like Gina said for your lehnga material and dupatta...your shirt should be a light silk or chiffon and a little longer. If you go for a coat-style it looks very classy and elegant.
