What should we do about Kashmir

One of the major issue , in complicating our relation ship with India , has been Kashmir.
Can we even entertain the thought of letting it go…
Its the sole justification for the large and expensive army. Havnt we lost more than it would be worth?
please dont get offended by it, I really want to hear views

I think the issue of Kashmir is very sad. It is a shame that both India and pakistan have destroyed this very beautiful place because of their egotrips and desire for power and control. Nobody asks the kashmiries what they want!!! Both countries should try to solve the matter and leave the kashmiries in peace in oreder to decide for themselves what is good for them.

it is a case of the big bad countries trying to gain brownie points its just like a contest to see who will win
and while they carry on innocent ppl suffer
it should be made into a seperate state nothing to do with India or Pakistan

kashmir...

o let the sun be down for my faith.. stars to fill my dreams...

la la la !!

i'm serious...

the kashmir issue is unsolvable!

it started with the partition of india, and can only end by reunion of india!

kashmir issue kay baaray main na socha kero...

... paagal ho jao gay!

we got the capability now...

Frisky Dearest,

U sure about the "capability" part??!! ;)

Rubiya whats up...been a long time...its that time of the semester again and Ive been inundated with work work work.....anyways...yeh...Id like to think we have...although I could ge on for ever why I think ANY nation to go nuclear is like taking one step further into extiction...I mean, contrary to most people in Pakistan's belief (and India's) nuclear capabilty is NOTHING to be proud of....!

It just shows our leader's ignorance of the bigger picture....

anyway...just get the REAL problem over with:
NUKE the damn "province!"

first we should try to manage pakistan and when we are in control, then we can start to think about other issues, such as kashmir.

Kashmir is the 5th province of Pakistan. Whoever is against it, I will squeez the shit out of them.

I think we should stop the proxy war
in India. We should never interfere
in the internal affairs of India.
If Kashmiris have any problem with the
Indian government they should fight
for their rights.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has declared Pakistan an "occupier" for occupying the 1/3 rd part of Jammu and Kashmir ( Azad Kashmir)

India will never give Kashmir to Pakistan.
I predict Kashmir will remain a part of
Pakistan for ever. Actually, it was a
mistake on Muhammad Ali Jinnah. With an
eye on Bhopal and Hyderabad he suggested
that it was the decision of the ruler of
that kingdom to either join India or Pakistan. By the logic, Kashmir is part of
India because the ruler Mr. Hari Singh signed a declaration stating that Jammu
Kashmir would be part of India.

Bhopal and Hyderabad like Bangladesh could
never have been part of Pakistan because
of geographical absurdity. A single country divided by 1000 miles was not
feasible.

There may be more wars. Hope we do not lose Sindh (Sindhudesh) or Karachi (jinnahpur) in the next war like we lost East Pakistan (Bangladesh).

India was ready to give Kashmir to Pakistan in exchange of Hyderabad.
Offer of exchanging Kashmir with Hyderabad was made by Sardar Vallabbhai Patel in September 1948.
Mir Abdul Aziz of Rawalpindi recalls "I was sitting in Poonch House,
Rawalpindi, when I listened to All India Radio's Urdu news bulletin
in which Patel's offer was aired." But the offer was not taken seriously by the leaders
of the time in the hope that we could have both the states:
Hyderabad because it was already under Nizam's rule and Kashmir
on the presumed basis of a plebiscite. The net result was that
we lost both because we were too greedy.

In fact, we lost all the three disputed states, including Junagadh,
which is even now shown in some official maps as being part of
Pakistan. Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, the first president of
Azad Kashmir, himself told me what had happened, and the role
that he played at the time. Details of this incident have also
appeared in his book "Kashmir saga" published in 1965
(its second edition has been published by Verinag Publishers,
Mirpur Azad Kashmir in 1990). I am quoting from pages 206 and
207 of the first edition. This thus comes straight from the
horse's mouth:

"Pakistan committed still another mistake in 1948 when Patel
offered to Liaquat Ali Kashmir, provided Hyderabad state was
conceded to India. Liaquat Ali Khan took this author (Sardar Ibrahim)
into confidence and sought his opinion. This author, without least
hesitation, accepted the proposition as fair and in the interest
of the peace and welfare of the people both in Kashmir and Hyderabad."

"Liaqat Ali Khan told the author that Ghulam Mohammad,
the Finance Minister, was opposed to the proposition and 'could
I go and convince him of this.' Consequently a meeting was arranged
with Ghulam Mohammad, the Finance Minister. In this meeting the author
(Ibrahim) tried his best to convince Mr Ghulam Muhammad, but he
refused to budge an inch. This author came to know, later on, that one
Sydney Carton, a pilot, was bringing in an aeroplane gold bricks from
Hyderabad to Karachi. Mr Ghulam Muhammad had a share in this. This
tragic event finished all chances of Kashmir's amicable settlement.
Hyderabad , later became part of India and is now the state capital
of Andhra Pradesh. That finished Hyderabad too." Anyway, Hyderabad becoming a part
of Pakistan was a geographcal absurdity, a land 1000 miles away.

Now, Pakistan has to accept the bitter truth and stop wasting millions
of dollars in defence. India will never give Kashmir till the very
end. Jammu-Kashmir will remain an integral part of India.

(Now and then you must remember this old story,
if you want to keep the scars on your chest fresh).

aupap68,

It's a pity for you the whole writing and producing evidence. But I don't buy your story anyway because we know more of the facts.

Dear Members,

First read these two documents about Kashmir to find facts before drawing conclusions.
