In your opinion what qualities a person should posses to be a khalifa.?
What education the person should have or is qualified for being khalifa of muslim ummah?
Would Arabs accept a Pakistani khalifa for muslim ummah as a whole?
I have one to be Khalifa of muslim ummah, let me check over him whether he bears in him criteria; what all muslims are looking in a khalifa to be qualified for that post. If he qualifices, I and my collegues would work on it.

I assume you are from Pakistan. We actually make sure that Khalifa can trim hair, shave beard, circumcise boys, and cook food on major family occasions.

Yes! But they will immediately start calling him Ya Rafeek, Ya Miskeen.

My goodness sister! you have a gem hiding in your backyard. Bring him forth so that modernists can all make fun of him. Be careful of OinkBL though. He may do more than just making fun of him. He may blast this poor miskeen to smithereens.
On a serious note! Khalifa concept was gone with the murders of Umar, Usman, and Ali. What we saw later was a collection of good or bad emperors calling themselves Khalifa. We didn't like emperors anymore so now we have allocated the term Khalifa to our barbers.
This kind of talk, I have heard it from some one before .
An elderly man, are you not the sameperson?; I can smell of something burning; behind some where in your pastttttt. Am I right---?
You have passed a -----
Why can not we have khalifatul muslimeen, of today?
All the problems would disappear, there would be peace between ossama Bin La Dine and America and europe. Israel and Paleistine would sit together. Every where islam would prevail.
Anyway it is your opinion. By the way I am trying to put some theory forward. I am a Pakistani , that's right of you to judge.

That's too much to ask sister!.
Umar, Usman, and Ali could not bring peace in their time even when they were very Rashid type Khalifay (in Arabic they say Khulafa-e-Rashideen).
Why do you expect that modern day Khalifay can do even that much. If you ever get a Khalifa, he will just be a monarch or worse yet some kind of dictator Sad-Damn or a Mullah-Tullah Aya-Tullah.
Me no liking monarchs, me no liking Tullahs, me no liking Damns, so me name my barber the Khalifa.
You cannot have a khalifh with an Islamic state first!
So the obective should be to create the state first
As for arab or pakistani or turkish this is irrelevant because nationalism is haram concept for muslims. So this issue of nationalism which is the most backward of thoughts probably the lowest form of thinking will be removed.

Well that is a catch 22!
Na No mun tail ho gaa, Na Radha Nachay gee.
No Khalifay no Islamic state, and the cycle of voilance and ignorance will go on.

Seems like some Araab boot licker Pakistanis are unwilling to get rid of rats. How can you be accused of nationalism when you would simply try to take the garbage out of your region?
the khalifa has to be the head of muslims in both political and religious matters....
he must be a good muslim with a good knowledge of Islam....
a formal education in Islamic studies cud be a plus....
he shud also have good leadership qualities....
questions like wud arabs accept a pakistani, or wud pakistanis accept an indian khalifa, or wud a malaysian or african or american be accepted as a khalifa r all just stupid questions....
useless excuses for not even trying....
^
suggesting a shiaa khalifa is wrong because u r talking of a minority....
and we need atleast a majority to approve of the khalifa....
a 100% approval will never be possible but we try to get the most number of votes for one guy and looking in the minorities wont achieve that....
if the bengali is really deserving i dont think why anyone shud oppose him....
scholars from the sub-continent do get a lot of respect when they visit bahrain (thats where i am so i can talk of only that)....
but as i said, u ppl need sincerity and not just "they wont accept it" attitude....
A relevant question should be what are qualities of a good leader for muslims in general rather than Khalifa for Ummah.. there was only one khalifa in early days of Islam as muslims at that time belonged to only one geographical area and even in all those Khalifate times modes of rules for institutions kept on changing.. now with grace of Allah muslims have swept the globe and so many muslim nations are there - there can be as amny Khalifas as there are muslim States.. Keeping in view human capability for governance it is impossible for a single Khalifa to govern billions of muslims scattered around the globe .. so people seeking single Khalifa ae stuck with concept of earlry muslims era and dont use understanding..
Even when Khalifa existed it was vey decentralised. There's nothing in the concept of a single Khilfat that would exclude provincial or state level rule.
Briefly the conditions are, that the Khlaifah must be:
He must be a Male.
He must be a Muslim.
He must be sane, he can't have mental problems etc.
He must be mature.
He must not be a slave etc. He has to be free.
He must be Trustworthy.
He must be able.
He must be from Quraysh.
It is very very very important to note, the above conditions do come along with proof AND the conditons are in more details!!! Not just what is stated above.
This has been done in detail and the evidence for each conditon and what it means in the book of Abu al-Hassan al-Mawaradi "Al-Ahkaam al-Sultaaniyya wal Walaayat al-Deeniyyah". Refer to that book.

This is actually in intersting one - I've always wandered how the Uthmani Khalifahs, being of Turk descent rather than Arab descent, were able to show this?
A more practical difficulty is today, how can you prove or disprove that someone is or isn't descended from the Quraysh?

Well, yeah good question. But, it is well known from the 'Arab tribes in the 'Arab countries, who have lived there for years and still are there, we can track down who is Qurayshee or not etc. When I asked our Sheikh, he told us that.

Long. That is another issue. Lol. And a boring one for me. But, erm, Qurayshee does not mean you have to be an 'Arab. I mean there are Indians out there who are Qurayshee. But the issue of being Qurayshee has some more details to it then just "being a Qurayshee, I fulfill the conditon of Khalifah". It's all in the book mentioned above.
