Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

The intent is not to pick on anyone. I also recall people putting an "i" or "a" at the end of males name to make them female.

like

Akhtari (I think my dad had a akhtari phoopho)
Anwari

Nasira
Nadira

Seema Butt :omg:

Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

Zulekha

Farkhunda

Fakhar

Zainulabideen

Zulfiqar

I know a little girl by the name of Rukhsar...people call her ROOKSAAAR. Even desies mess it up. If she is growing up in a western country, she should have a name that wont get botched for the majority of her life OR come up with a decent nick name for her that wont leave her traumatized in school.

Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

Waqar Butt

Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

"Roooksaaar you are a rockstar" - that can actually help her

Mehjabeen

My dad's first name is Waqar and he gets the wierdest variations of it. I mean, how hard is it to say WAQAR?! No, people say Wagger, Walker, Waquaaar, blah blah blah. My new strategy is if people cannot make an effort to pronounce my name right, they dont deserve to be spoken to. I hang up!

Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

Lord Farquaad

Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

ijaaz, perveen, bano :omg:

Re: What NOT to name your child (in this day and age)

Basharat

Bash a rat

The last name "Butt" can be a challenging one to have living outside of Pak, lol.

A common Vietnamese name is......Phuc..........YUP.........another troublesome name.

And there is an African American name that is spelled as** Chithead.**........but is to be pronounced "sheetheed."

Hmmm....location/predominant culture should be considered when naming your child.

There are some names that are classic and never go out of style (Aisha, Fatima, Sara, etc). And then there are some names that are SOOOOO Old-fashioned that it's best not to "bring them back." And others just don't have a lovely sound to them. Examples:

**Allah Rakhi

Jamalo

Farkhanda (good on PSquared...eeew)

Talat

Sarwat

Sitwat
**

**Rukhsana

Kawkab

Nasira

Shahida

Parveen

Naheed

Naveeda

Qurra-tul-Ain
