Re: WHAT NEXT?????

from what i have SEEN, brides leave quite early in the afternoon to get ready. they are usually done in 3-4 hours.. depending on which salon you go to. then you have your photoshoot done (solo) either in a studio or your home.. then you're driven off to the venue and i guess that's when you have your photoshoot with the dulha.. (mainly while people are busy eating food)..

Re: WHAT NEXT???

I went with my cousin when she was dressed as a bride… her salon was in clifton and her home was in gulshan… anyways, I think we left around 3.30-4pm!!! clifton is a bit far and the traffic :hayaa: yes, and all up it took her about 3 hours to get ready (the 3 most boring and slow hours of my life… ) anyway, after she was done, we came home first (I got ready in 10 mintues :teary2:) and then left for bahadrabad (where the hall was)… she had her photoshoot in the Bridal room bcoz it was nice enough I guess… But then… in karachi, most ppl dont start their functions early (or on time)… so i guess you’ll have to see how things are meant to work out for your family. Best of luck with everything

Re: WHAT NEXT???

3 HOURS!! are you serious!! i was barely there for 20 min…and i had to wait 2 hours for my 2 cousins to get ready…i mean what exactly is going on in there…

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

^ chanda_kh you probably didn't have the whole cakey look for your wedding... thats why it didn't take you so long.... apparently what took long for my cousin was the fact that she has really long, super striaght & shiny hair... it took them forever to backcomb it and set up her hair right coz the "look" wasn't right!

anyways, I thought she looked crap on her weddnig day! she is a really nice looking girl, but I thought post makeup she looked like one of those confused men who try to look like women but caking on makeup!!! I know this sounds terrible but the makeup really was horrible! and they charged her Rs 10000!!!!

did you get married in karachi... if so, can i please ask where from and how much they charged you... i liked you makeup... you didn't look overdone!

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

My reception was in the same hotel that the parlor was, so that was convenient. I took a shower around 2ish, went to the parlor around 3. They did some touch-up threading for a while, and then did the hair, then the make up. I was ready be 6, I think. The photographer came to the hotel. Unfortunately because of the chaos at our wedding (rain and such) we didn't do as many professional shots together, but there were lots of me before.

Re: WHAT NEXT???

^ lucky you! I wanted to get my makeup done around zamzama but it is literally like the other side of karachi from where our home and the hall is! so it seems that i may have to drop the idea :teary2: i just dont wanna look like i came off the Mah Rose production like :frowning:

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

^ Yeah, it's why I picked Cistre once I heard the wedding was in the Karachi Sheraton. And i had heard good things about the service and everything. And I just figured I'm so far away, going at such a hectic time, I'd just do what I could to make the process simpler.

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

^ yes, iv'e heard good stuff about Cistre.

we kinda live in north karachi, so heading into the city at any time is bound to take you at least 1-2 hours one way (depending on traffic)...

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

yikes!!! that doesnt sound too good!!
i got married in Lahore..Makeup---(new look)--but by arsh..not the mother...and they charged me 14000...including hair, makeup, and dupatta setting...which i think was ok....i am not familiar with the prices there...

Re: WHAT NEXT???

so ok how do you pronounce Cistre…i’ve been pronouncing it like a french word, with the assumption that it’s french :pagli:…i know its a silly question

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

i went to beauty parlour at 4:30 and was ready by 7 , first they done my hair then the base and then the actual make up ws done in 15 mins. lots of photos were taken in the hall wid family n my entrance his entrance bt then our actual photoshoot ws done in our hotel room after baraat. we were both more relaxed. n NO my makeup ws not ruined thy dint let me cry dt much sayin u gtta hve ur photoshoot yet. haha .

Re: WHAT NEXT???

Yeah, sort of. It sounds like “Sister”

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

For my nands wedding, we left for the salon (New Look) at around 3 PM, we were both getting ready at the same time...i think they did her hair first, her base was done by one girl and the owner did her eye makeup and finally someone else did the duputta setting....we were done by 5 PM and got to the hall at 6....and her foto shoot began while everyone was still coming in...

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

thank you gals...so if the function starts at 6 wot time shall i get out of home and the wedding is in clifton orchids opposite park towers iv never seen it and ill be going from zamzama does any1 no how long itll take and once agen thanx for all your replies ladies.. very much appreciated mwah

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

^ You should ask the beauty parlour how long they will take. Tell then what time you need to be ready by and they should be able to advise you at what time to arrive.

For my cousin's wedding his wife went to the parlour at 4pm and was ready by around 7pm. The photo shoot was done straight afterwards at the parlour. She had photos by herself then my cousin came around 7:30 for them to have photos together.

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

usually you can ask the parlour if they do any photoshoot or they know someone who does it, which is much more convinient as it would be quite close to the parlour. if the reception starts at 6, you need to tell the parlour you need to be ready by say 5, you can go straight for photoshoot and then to the hall ard 7 / 7.30 (there is usually a room provided for the bride so you can wat there). The bride comes out on the stage/hall after baraat arrives so you don't need to hurry and get to hall for 6 :=)

My reception was at 8 but Madeehas (parlour) said i need to get there for 3 and someone needs to pick me up by 6 as alot of parlours in Lahore now close in the evening rather than later at night.

P.S. they will tell you to get there 3 hours before, even though it takes alt less time. one lady did my hair first, then the other one did my base. then eyes and then i had to wait for ages. they she carried on with the eyes and rest of the make-up. Wait again and then dupatta just before the bride leaves.

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

ohhh hahaha, last year, my cousin was getting married and i kept hearing her say, is bhabis better or sisters?? (meaning cistre).. and i was like, what kind of names are these? bhabi.. sister.. whats next? mommy? now that you have said 'sister' is actually cistre, it makes more sense :)

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

what i know is u have to tell the beautician at what time u want to get ready or be in the hall. according to that time she will give u the time on which u should reach parlor.

Re: WHAT NEXT?????

Don't forget to visit the loo before u leave the parlour! That's the last thing u need to worry about! Amidst all the chaos, panic and disorder! That's what I tell all my brides! The heels, high-hair...false eye-lashes, oodles of pancake base..heavy jewellery, and the uff so heavy dupatta!
