Tetley tea bags r good. We use whatevers available. SOmetimes we brew teabags too, or add loose tea to the coffee pot and let boiling water drip over it thru the coffee machine. I could so do with a tea of cup right now.
Tetley isnt strong enough for my desi taste buds.
At home we use Red Label. I like using the Earl Grey stuff and i usually make chai by karhing it (letting it simmer for some time).
And no fungo, doodh patti doesnt give me a upset tummy.
Forgot to add: if you ever get a chance to go to the Middle East, their Lipton is THE best tea ever. It tastes very different than the Lipton availible here and is darn good. I am sure Ravage knows what i am talking about.
anyway, someone please tell me if I can make the process any better...
i boil water
add a tea bag to a muggaaah placed on the counter
pour boiling water on top
set the timer to 3 minutes
heat up regular vitamin D whole milk for 30 seconds
add sugar and the warm milk
get rid of the tea bag

is this how you make your tea???Are you serious??You seem so knowledgeable in cooking, you are killing me by telling me thats how you make your tea.
Pure Pakistani Style: Pour half water and half milk in a saucepan. Add tea bag and sugar. If you are feeling extra fancy, add a cardamom pod and a small piece of cinnamon stick. Boil once and simmer for about 5 mins. Serve in a muggaaahh.
The not-so-desi style: Boil water. Add tea bag in a mug and pour hot water. Let is sit for a couple m ins. Add evaporated milk and sugar and serve.
Dear Ira, what is so different and unbelievable in my method and what you stated under English style of tea?. It's almost the same except for evaporated milk.

I guess I dont like microwaved chai or chai with the "real" milk unless it has been simmered for a while.
