Do you think there are different dimensions to being a muslim (ie liberal, moderate, conservative)?
If so:
-Which one do you consider yourself to be and why?
-How would YOU define each one?
Asslam-Alikum, I am very conservative muslim.. I recommend the following:
1) I believe in sharia and Islam to be our guide. Its high time we implement Sharia in Pakistan.
2) I recommend we make hijaab compulsory for everyone and women SHOULD NOT be allowed to work outside their home. They should be accompanied by husband or brothers while going out.
3) Growing beard compulsory for all men.
4) Ban on TV/Internet/movies or any form of western-styl enterntainment.
5) Close all foreign embassies/consulates.
6) Ban on western education
I believe "liberal" muslims to be those who rationalize all the "traditionally" wrong things, like wearing hijab is not optional/necessary, weed/alcohol is okay in moderation, gay marriage shud be allowed, datng and premarital sex are okay etc..
Theres ideology and action and i am aware that it si possible to have one ideology but the behavior of another out of weakness or habit, like being ideologically/theoreticallly liberal, but behaviorwise very conservative.. then theres dudes like mulz who are ultra conservative but behave the same as kafirs out of "weakness"

Just my 2 cents.

1) Its already on the books we should just get rid of the dual court system in Pakistan
2) Its already compulsory, most of the women in Pakistan do that( purdah chader, hijab), the rest should be taught about it not forced. Rather than making women being accompanied their safety should be ensured.
3) Again its compulsory then why enforce it, teach people the significance of other more important compulsory Islamic edicts.
4) Its not even close to Islamic edicts, Islam suffered the most when its practiced in a closed behind the wall environment, look at Saudi Arabia. Did Umer or Ali put a ban on cultural/recreative activities in any time? no.
5) Its against Islamic edict, even the Prophet didn’t practice this
6) That’s why the prophet said to go to China to learn...
Moderation is the key in Islam, but this dosent mean that we become extermists, just like the liberals.

Your point # 4 sound hypocritical with having 900+ posts on GS.
I am kinda lost on words as to how do I define a true "liberal" vs a true "conservative"- you ppl are best judge. Maybe I was way off on certain things, but I guess you all agree that we have to be a good practising muslim vs a non-practining one cuz the former makes a better person overall. There is a difference between Islam being a guide Vs. the code of conduct and which one one adheres to is a matter of personal opinion.
Sara bibijee, in surat al-baqara, there is one Ayat describing the Mominoon and one describing the Kafiroon. Yet there are thirteen Ayaat describing the Munafiqoon, some say because there are so many of them. By calling a momin a kafir you become a munafiq. Posting half-naked guy pictures you receive in PM doesnt make you any better muslim than me :D
LB, maybe I didnt explain it better- I mean the internet usage minus the ill-effects of it- like married ppl watching naked girls on the net. Using internet for educational purposes is fine with me :)
You are making fun of me- your muslim bro. It is common but we need to rectify it with good behavior.
Yes, there are cases of muslims killing muslims- solid administation and economic prosperity will put an end to that.
I am not sure why would you want stop shopkeepers to double their one-time earnings.
Western education wherein they teach distorted history and show certain ppl great.. Science and maths is liked gold- equally valuable no matter who teaches them.
Its a long long answer but, we are coming up fast.
I am fine with non-nudity, non-kissing, non-violent stuff.. like a candy floss lollywood love story as long as they dont show cleavage and legs as Miss Saima does..
Sorry for what? Arrey, no porblem bhaijaan- you didnt hurt my feelings I was just kidding when I said you made fun of me. Nothing to feel bad about. . Take it easy. My muslim brother, please be aware that I will not hurt you
I am new to this forum, so Mulz i dont know u much. Were u trying to use sarcasm in your post by your suggestions by making pakistan into something like wat afghanistan was under taliban or do u really want it that way??
why do u think women should not have equal rights??? Do u think they are inferior. Man how can u think like this in this century.
i am liberal muslim. I do things that I think are right. I dont follow anything from quran just because it is written in it. I dont harm anyone. I work hard and play my part in the society. I respect the rules of the country i live in. I respect others and dont believe, me being a muslim is somehow superior then someone who is not a muslim. I am pro abortion, pro gay rights, pro gender equality. I dont pray daily. I do follow rules in the society i live in. I think that makes me better muslim then someone who prays daily, does follow the quran yet someone who kills innocent civilians, has no respect for women, is not tolerant towards other people.
People like him respect and abide by the rules and the laws of the society/country they live in, but dont bother giving a damn about what their religion requires of them...and yet they still think they are much better muslims than those who abide by the law of the Quran and pray five times a day.
Allah revealed Ayaahs upon Ayaas disclosing the hypocrisy of such people. May He guide them.
