now for those of u who listed that u eat at arabic joints, u do realize that halaal and zabiha are 2 diff things, many arabis joints will say its halaal, but it wont be zabiha..

avoid camden on east coast and compton on west coast, and u are off to a good start

Fraudz, I only asked b/c I thought halaal and zabihah are used interchangibly. Hence, the reason I asked.
It'd be nice if you can differentiate the two for me please. :)

sadiyah.. from what i have gathered zabiha is the manner in which the animal is slaughtered, and halaal is opposite of haraam (forbidden)
so whereas pork is haraam, beef is not even if it is not zabiha.
for further details please call pita inn in wheeling illinois and ask the owner..thats his theory :)

In Hanafi school of thought it is not halaal if not zabiha ..

anwaar bhai, I am only sharing the philosophy of arab restaurants, i have heard the same from others. call this pita inn guy and ask him :)

I know what u mean anwaar, i am just stating something that many desis dont know. so if u are a zabiha eater y the definition posted above, please confirm how the meat was prepared at these arab restaurants, u dont want to be eating something you would not if you knew the full story.
saadiyah, zabiha is cow/goat/duck/chicken/ostritch/any allowed animal meat where teh animal was zabiha-fied :)

There is another opinion of Imam Abu Hanifa based on several ahaadeeth that states that if a known muslim says food to be halal, his witness is enough to make it halal for you even if it is not. So, unless you really know it, it is halal.

sadiyah i meant zabiha is when the animal is slaughtered according to the islamic zabiha laws.

anwaar, i am very pious so i only eat seafood when i am out, octopus, squid, mussels, shrimp, lobster, oysters, scallops, crabs etc
