This question is posed towards those individuals who live abroad in non-Muslim countries and are faced with the dilemma of halaal and haraam food.
I guess this thread is more or less of a survey for myself to find out what types of meat Muslims (on GS) consume and stay away from.
What type(s) of meat do you consume outside your home?
1. Meat that has been slaughtered by Muslims only
2. Meat that has been slaughtered by Muslims, plus the meat of Ahle-Kitaab (Jews & Christians)
3. Any meat, as eating halaam or haraam does not make any difference to you
4. Other... please explain
What kind of other dietary restrictions do you follow (or not follow)?
Simple answers would suffice. Since it is for general knowledge/survey purposes, I do not want it to be turned into a religious debate and transfered to Religion forum.
We prefer zabiha halah meat slaughtered by muslims. For outside dinner we prefer Arabic restaurants who use halal zabiha meat.
Other restrictions is to buy products by reading ingredints, via internet we search for description about what ingredient is halal or not, also we discuss it with friends and it works much better to select halal products from market.
Fish, Chicken( any or should say Ahl -e- Kitaab if I dont get the Halal chicken)
but thinking of that i think all most anyone here has eaten Mcdonalds / KFC, Pizza…etc at some point so… 1 and 2
some ppl are who are strictly vegiee eater…
on 2nd anything goes as long as my tummy doesnt growl ..lol:p
i.e. Veggie Sandwich at subway, fish sandwich at burger king, catfish at popoyes, egg salad sandwich over chicken salad etc.
NO pork, ham, alcohol etc. whatsoever.
Sometimes, I do eat chicken and beef when I go to restaurants to eat out but I am cutting back on it and I've started to either not go out and eat, and if I do go out and eat, I've started to eat allowed food only.
i eat at desi restaurants...and i only eat chikin....save the goats..so its realli not that big of a problem...and i hate hamburgers and hot dogs (halal ones, i mean)...
this was one thing i enjoyed about pakistan…u can eat w/o feeling guilty… heck I had pepperoni pizza from pizza hut
for those who never ate chicken or beef or whatever, don’t. i started doing it as a form of rebellion against my parents (yes, stupid i know) but now I don’t see a need for it (the “rebellion” i mean)…im trying to cut back on the haram stuff too…i don’t eat beef that often (never had pork or alk to begin wit) and i gotta lern to love fish over chicken
