Except I don't find surkhi as headline in my dictionaries...only surkhi meaning red...I'll check sar-naamah now...

**u may NOT find in dictionaries because it's an implied/applied meaning and anybody who listens to urdu news and/or reads urdu newspaper or magazines knows that surKhii means Headlines...
...the word i gave [sar-naamah] is less prevalent in print or electronic media...it's used in saqeel urdu [Persianised Urdu]**

janaab-e-'aalii, samaachaar is a Hindi word for "NEWS" and the headline is referred to as "surKhii" or "sar-naamah"...lagtaa hai aapne kisii kii post nahiiN paRhii :)

Ok, what about the term for subtitle? Not the kind on foreign films, but the one often found to the right or left of the main newspaper headline? Like the sidebar information?
