what is ur christian name..?

When i first came to OZ at the age of 6, and people asked me what my christian name was.. or when I had to fill out forms, I would write something along the lines of “Samantha” or “Sarah”.. I thought I had to pick the closest name to my “paki/muslim” name..

I thought the trend of asking such a thing had died down.. as I havent heard of it for years..

I called up a catholic school today (we deal with a lot of catholic schools at work) and the receptionist asked me “What is ur christian name..?”.. i was sooo inclined to say “Samantha..”

i mean, when people go to muslim countries, do they get asked “what is ur muslim name?”

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Christian name? :konfused: I think Christian name refers to the name you were born with, not your nickname. I don’t think religion plays a part in it.

I went to a Catholic school for 12 years, and I never heard of “Christian” name. Anyone asks you what your christian name is tell them your name is Sadia, and that’s it. They don’t need to know your religion or country…

Re: what is ur christian name..?

^ ummz i know :halo:

i just find it odd that people refer to ur first name (given name) as “Christian”

I know a lot of asians (chinese asians) who do have their original names likes Xiung or Cheung.. but their “christian” names are like Lucy or Bianca..

i guess i was just jealous… i wanted something like that too

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Something not so cultural and easier to pronounce?

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Desi's who have English names make me giggle like a madman on laughing gas.

I know a lot of Indians who change their names from, for example, Pervinder or some crap, to Peter. Boy did we take the piss outta them.

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Screw that. Learn to pronounce my name you whitewashed moron. “Mo’s” annoy me.

You would think “Sara” isn’t too difficult to pronounce but I always get questions like “is it Sera, Saira, or Saaraaaa?”

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Fita,
actually i have friends who “changed” their parents names to something their friends could pronounce more easily… so sad really..

i love meeting desis who go by “Harry” or “Mike”…

Sara, how heard can ur name be to pronounce? at least u dont get called “henry” :halo:

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Lol acutally some ppl call my parents John and Jenny, coz they both call each other “janni”

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Henry? where the hell didt aht come from? Dont’ tell me ppl thot u were henry? Did anyone mispronounce ur name?

Re: what is ur christian name..?

^ yeap… i used to be called henry.. i dont understand how one gets that from my name

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Sadia = Henry??? :konfused: wtf?

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Henry? I like.

Sara from now on you are Gertrude.

Re: what is ur christian name..?

I know a Harun who got so pissed off at goras mispronouncing his name that he started introducing himself as Harry instead, to give them something they could pronounce correctly instead.

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Okay Fatima.

Re: what is ur christian name..?

australians :halo: tsk… honestly

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Christian name? Sorry...never heard of it. Maybe its exclusive to the stupid land down under or something???
And i also know a punjabi guy who changed his name from harbinder to Harry. Harry is a very queer name for obvious reasons.

Re: what is ur christian name..?

Thank God my name sounds nothing like a christian name. Fatima. Pure Muslim. :)

Re: what is ur christian name..?

australia is one stupid racist country and the people talk wierd too

Re: what is ur christian name..?

^ u've never lived here so how would u know how racist it is?

Ive been here for almost 19 years, and ive only encountered racism like once.. and that too by a mentally challenged person..

unless you've actually been here and experienced the lifestyle, u've no right to lable a country racist or whatever else..

Re: what is ur christian name..?

I know preople who used to live in australia :)

if only people would consider your reasoning when they call countries or people terrorists the world would be a better place
