like mcpendo said, the media doesn't help either. you never see a dark female pakistani celeb. can you imagine seeing a lux ad with a dark girl being featured?

You know what's ironic? In the long run, darker skin is stronger and tends to age better than fair skin. You would think that with the youth-obsessed society we live in.....that people would appreciate darker skin more. But i guess this view is more emphasized in the West, whereas in Asia.....lighter skin is given more priority than benefits such as slower-aging.

Our beloved holy prophet Hazrat Muhammed(p.b.u.h) was of weatish complexion thus this makes some difference.

Many Pakistani people think that they look much different from Indians, they really don't.
The slave mentality of white skin being better. When the British attacked and tried to subdue the Pakhtun tribes, the fairness of skin color did not come into play..we were all savages to the European colonists.
Funny how tanning and "getting color" in in fashion in the West while Pakis stick to the fair complexions. We didn't choose to be born a certain way, G-d created us the way we are :)

OK. Seriously speaking. Skin color as 'smooth' (same throughout without blemish; dark or light , doesn't matter), acceptable features and figure, plus a great mind, personality, intelligence, intellectual sense is what should be looked for when looking for a mate. Nothing wrong in it.
Now if someone himself or herself is not so good looking with other good qualities missing, then compromise is alright.
Everyone is after middle ground, Jet black want to be lightened and milky white want to tan.
So Pakistani are the winner from north indian sub-continent.
the only reason for me being a proud multani = I love myy multanii tan( whoever my hubby will be, he better sing me that sanwali saloni si mehboba song or its a NO frm me). ppl need to get over the gora obsession! beauty has so many forms then just the skin color. Look at the african model iman shes so gorgeous, and tyra and halle and beyonce. The list goes on.some people look pale expessionless when they puposely lighten their skin.

I think its no so much as the skin but also the complexion and the anthropological features that count! If girl is kashish or attraction she'll be married off but if her face looks like brown moon then she better start using fair&lovely. 15 minute meh ho gayi meh gori gori! lol i remember this commercials in between Ajay devgan movies!

yaar i m fair skinned ,jo bhi mujhe dekhta hai they asked me if i m arabica or persian cause of my features but i love sanwali rangat ghazab ki attraction hoti un main ,waise bhi yeh ik masla hai mere baal silky straight hain mujhe curly pasand hain jis k curly honge us ko straight pasand honge ,because we are human thats why we are not convinced with what we already got to me i m perfect cause i m not blind , i can speak ,i can hear, i can see , i can walk,God made me complete who am i to complain or change his artistry.Allah made every thing pretty and beautiful,and the beauty lies in our eyes ,if some one is blind to that what can we do.

you get me wrong ,what i tried to say that is how people misinterpret and use Islam to serve thier purpose like taliban ,Allah ka jo mehbob tha us ki rangat bhi goori na thi to kia Allah ne un ko apna mehboob nahi banaya ,Hazrat bilal was habshi but beloved of my prophet muhammed(P.B.U.H) what matters is our virtues not complexion.
