I am conceding..

Banana Republic of Pakistan is not a constitutional democracy..

A mob is called referendum here.. personal convenience is interpreted as quran.. and a dance party of 10,000 people is called a revolution !!!

Basically state does not exist. A mob can storm the parliament and PM house.

Let’s see if a country with these facts can have any future. Tableeghi Jamaat with proven capacity-potential of gathering 2.5 million crowd has the most legitimate right to govern the country according to your logic.

If state is not government … it is froces, judiciary and bureaucracy … and they can arrange referendum … but if people themselves do that and all accept than also it would be valid.

In western democracy … people do that all the time. People start mini referendum on important issues by taking consent signature of the people. If they can take few tens of thousand signatures on approval of their issue, than even though it is not proper referendum, it is considered as important enough for government to act on it.

Even if government has to decide big issues, like UK entering European Union, instead of parliament taking decision on behalf of people, government go for referendum.
