I was reading on arranged marriages and ppl are like they work because romantic love isn’t important for a marriage to succeed. So what is important? Or what’s the point? If you aren’t marrying for love, what are you marrying for?

I think romance usually develops as you spend more time ... it should be when you put two people who are attracted to each other together for a period of time, or at least thats what I like to think.
Honestly reading these forum here is making me paranoid about getting married. I always thought marriage would be pleasant and happy but the more I read, more I feel like its a death wish. I never had any interaction with desi girls so idk how they think or what happens in desi marriages before I came to this forum. But now I am second guessing getting married at all or getting married to desi girl ... you guys here seem to make things more complicated then they usually are but who am I to judge may be you guys are right and marriage sucks since I haven't been in one.

Fear of dying alone I guess. In the end everyone leaves you, even your kids don't stay with you sometimes. The only person who stays with you till end is your spouse (agar Allah raste ch onuu chuk na laway te :p)

I know sometimes in arranged marriage also loves comes, but some ppl I heard they married while they didn't even talked to each other, at least some point is needed to feel if he has anyway to ur heart or no!!!

dont let this forum scare you. marriage isn't always pleasant, there are ups and downs. but overall, marriage is a beautiful thing if you're married to the right person. i love being married, wouldn't have it any other way. im not married to a desi, but still, we have our not-so-pleasant moments. desi girl or anyone else, you will still have some problems. just remember, happy wife, happy life :)

Why not? This forum has a very unique quality, it shows you what goes on in a desi woman's mind. Its very enlightenting to say the least, about what to expect a desi wife to be thinking.
Also, like, what she would be screaming about to the rest of the world, should there be any issue.

for religion - for fear of going to hell if we committed "sins" outside of marriage
for society - as largely, they look down upon you if you're unmarried and in a relationship
for parents - to make them "proud"
Most things, in a "marriage" can be done outside of marriage. But, culture, religion and society all advocate we get married. So, we do.

The only thing you marry is for love, I found love and I am happier than I thought I will ever be, arranged marriages are about calculations, about how much you can squeeze out of the other party without offering a lot in return. We don't ever calculate as to who does more or less, I can never sit and watch TV while she does house work, it is fun cooking and cleaning together, talking, connecting, bonding and laughing together. @pisiform, if you give our desi wife love and respect she will give you back a 100 times, I had relationships with western girls and knowing both sides, I will take a desi girl a million times over any other culture, people have billions of dollars and sometimes have a loveless life, true happiness comes from loving relationships. Desi girl will give you more love than you ever imagined.
