Please tell me almost all restaurants overseas use the name Indian Restaurant but are run by a Pakistani, Afghani or even a Lebanese. Why is it so ?
Peshawari and Dum Pukht cuisine are quite common in India but only biggies serve it.
well people know teh name india going back centuries, try using bharat and you will have teh same problem. people dont know much, so basic marketing ploy
i been to lahore last summer for 3 days.. i visited the old city and the new one..the old city is not as clean as it should be considering it houses the main tourist attractions like Minar-e-Pakistan, Badshahi Masjid and the Fort.. No, i did not see cow manure, niether in the old city nor the new..apart from when going towards wagah, the suburban areashave cows etc.
the new city/cantt area was completely opposite..
all in all i lurrvvveddd Lahore and would love to go again..
there is something about the city that draws ur attention.. probably because its historic
Vegetarian foods like gawar ki bhaji, baryain, mangochian, khundlian, aalo ka bhurta, haray mash ki kitchri with desi ghee, moli and khatiee ki chatni, seem phali ki bhaji, etc etc are commonly cooked in Karachi houses!
I got the impression that resturants in Karachi sell all Indian dishes..that's the reason I listed a lot of Indian dishes. North Indian cuisine and cuisine in Lahore or Karachi are more or less same. I say this because I have eaten in several restaurants abroad run by Pakistanis.
South Indian dishes are mainly vegetarian but Non-Veg preparation in Chettinad style (Chettinad is a district in Tamilnadu) are completely different from North Indian style but have a wonderful taste.
I think I will visit Lahore or Karachi whenever I get a chance. Many pre-independence generation persons who hailed from these cities but migrated to India after partition speak quite nostalgically about these.
Anarkali Bazaar...does it still exist in Lahore ??
I understand every metropolis has problems, but atleast most big cities STRIVE to be better. Don't give me the O YOU NEVER BEEN TO PAKISTAN crap.
Raised in Karachi, and then staying in lahore, I have hated those cities and never understood the relevance of this passion. Home is where the heart is? I think not. Maybe your childhood home, but the city itself. Yuck.
So...come defend your city. Lahore sucks. Karachi sucks.
achaa.. to tum kis kheth ki mooli ho? such such bata do - i won't laugh
Its a mental perception, and has nothing to do with how good the city is. Where one is born & raised, is usually the place one likes the most. I knew a Chechen who left for his home after becoming a doctor in Canada. He said he liked his home better. And I think we all know what the situation in Chechenya is like.
Well! There are also south indian home food as well - in hyderabadi and banarsi homes in Karachi! And few resturant as well! I once happened to go to a south indian resturant in Abu Zhabi! It really tastes good and different!
Its all about the people. Physical attributions of a city apart - The reason Lahore is so famous is because of its people. City is much more than pretty architectures. All the shops / diversification / acceptance is because of the people. The attitude of society, making you feel welcome, helping you out - is because of the people.
Why does islam hold family structure ABOVE anything else of this world? Its because your family are your identification, your support, your saviour. Whenever family values starts breaking down, you will see ID crisis there.
