I read this news about stray dogs being culled by authorities after five year old was killed by dogs…
and started wondering what policies different countries must have been following in matter of stray dogs…
Please share info about countries you are residing now…
And your view about culling of stray dogs too…

They are taken by the Animal Services Soceity...and others can adopt them if wanted....

The strays are taken for tests to make sure they're not sick or infected. If they are, they're treated. Then they're tested to see if they're friendly enough to be adopted. If they are, THEN they're sent to the animal shelters for people to adopt :)

In India stray dogs are a huge nuisance. Maneka Gandhi created this situation. And she probably does not get affected as Much as a lay person. Time to put stray dogs to sleep in a gentle manner.

These dogs some times like to chase bike riders!
Just imagine how easily it can cause an accident.

during my last trip to India, i was walking at night with a packet of kabaab in a polythene bag with me and guess what? a pack of dogs [member of the same family] attacked my packet of kabaab and snatched from me. OMG, they have some sense of smell and will to have kababa for dinner....
...they are shear nuisance and terror at nights. there must be laws in our countries to restrict their free roaming of the streets and their terror.

ok law being implemented that no dog will chase motorcycle neither any dog will snatch kababs from some one specially from KKF. dogs are allowed only to bark in a melodious voice.

I don't feel comfortable with that but better than putting them to sleep.. As a dog lover I can't get my head around it :(

Tried that for many years in India but did not work. The dogs seem to have a sort of six sense when the workers r trying to catch them and some how make themselves scarce. As soon as the dog van rolls into the neighbourhood, all the dogs disappear till the van leaves.

Dogs dont know how to use condoms or birth control pills. Stray dogs are like pervert desi uncles who are willing to mount any moving object. They transfer diseases and result in the unwanted population of low breed dogs.

Luckily, we have no stray dogs in my city.We have stray cats.
