Re: What is best romantic Bollywood movie?
Didn’t care for Veer Zara much, but it did motivate me to muster up the courage to get my nose pierced …a few months after having watched the movie, lol.
Devdas…No. Just no.
I never watched it more than once. And even the first time, I never watched it thoroughly. The only person I liked was Jackie Shroff and that too, was for his ability to speak in that distinct style that only he had.
Mr. And Mrs. Iyer…now that was a nice movie. Only watched it once, but it had substance. That unspoken tension between the two characters, I love subtle stuff like that…not the over-the-top Devdas variety.
My favorite: It’s usually not featured among the “top” romantic movies of Bollywood…but I love the movie, “Wake Up Sid” with Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen. I love it because it’s simple and subtle. It’s not a passionate, heady, intense affair…the kind that in real life tends to end just as quickly as it begins. Rather it simmers. I like that it simmers and doesn’t boil until the very end when it’s needed the most…when the feelings come to the surface and have to be faced. I like the dynamics b/w the characters…their love is based on friendship and with time, a comfortable acceptance of each others’ differences …even the ones that can’t be controlled.
