Think it did alright at the box office.

Okay, out of all the Khan-movies of the 90s that I’ve watched, the one I feel most ashamed about is KKHH. I can revisit DDLJ with little discomfort and this is because the Rahul in that movie was a deliberate nuisance. Sure, there were some cheesy scenes but character-wise, he got a kick out of being obnoxious and u got the feeling that he knew it, and reveled in the outrage it produced. The Rahul in KKHH tried waaaaaayyy tooo hard to be keewwwll and it did not seem that natural. Kkhh was an over-the-top movie, the dialogs and situations and storyline were ott. Even when Kajol yells "Jooos …Rahul…juice jooooos’ sounded ott. Johnny Lever’s ott love for “Mummmaaay”…the Dadi’s role was ott. The way I see it, DDLJ was meant to be ott…KKHH was meant to be more ‘believable’ but turned out OTT. Not the best friends-to-lovers movie, IMO.

Characters aur un k dialogs aur storyline se he film banti hain. Jab yeh sab cheezain ott hon (cheater cheater Rahul is a cheater...I'm not a chchchcheater....interspersed with hand-clapping-nose-flicking game etc etc) the overall film bhi ott hogi. The sum of the parts make up the whole.
