I heard that peers are the people who are actually there to guide you. People have their peers whom they consider their role model. They do according to what their peer says or suggests.

Personally, I don't believe in any peer. I think we, Muslims have already a peer who is actually "Peer-e-Kaamil (SAW)" so we don't need to consult any specific peer to get guidance. Yes we can take help with many people around us who are knowledgeable.
