Can someone tell me what pirs are exactly and what they believe…

When i was in Pakistan, i mentioned that many believe in them.. nowadays there coming alot at tv also…

Yes there is a difference. Most depictions of pirs and faqeers that you see on television plays, as well as bill boards, wall grafitti advertisements and flyers are usually just fake people who are trying to make money by capitalizing on the work of genuine pirs. The genuine pirs are hard to find, and in olden days, these were Islamic scholars, who through their simple life-style, compassion, knowledge and humility converted large parts of Indian population to Islam. These pirs did not demand payments from people to offer dua or accepted gifts to perform chilla.
There is another class of people who, for lack of a better word, have lost their minds. These are called "majzoob" (i.e. some one who is deep in thought). In some cases, with extreme meditation, some people tune out of the life around them and go into a deep stance where they are only trying to solve the riddle of finding their Creator. In most cases, these people are no longer capable of holding a conversation, nor are they concious of their actions. In some cases, these people desert their families and walk away to live away from populated areas. Some people think that these majzoob's are closer to Allah and hence approach them for dua etc. A lot of fake pirs copy the actions of these majzoobs to make money from innocent people.

No, I dont believe in modern-day whack jobs. Even if they truly believe they are doing something for the good, they are truly harming people. You know who I am talking about.

I believe there are more devout & religious people on earth than us ordinary humans...I dont know who is right or wrong, but I even see these arabs over here go to genuine pirs...
