What is a "good" salary?

Re: What is a "good" salary?

If you are single with a house/car and want a good standard of living 50k should be enough for you to have good life, ofcouse also depend of how you manage your money.

Re: What is a "good" salary?

exactly! ^

Personally.... I'd need to make 75k+ to live comfortably with my family and perhaps even give them the finer things in life (ie pvt schools, academic enrichment programs, extra curricular activities, vacations, college funds etc etc)

Re: What is a "good" salary?

$30K is enough to get anyone 3 meals, some rags and a roof. (rotee kapRa makaan). If your girl (or guy) is choosing you simply because you make his or her minimum expected $, i'd try to keep some distance from that person.

Re: What is a "good" salary?

I made 20K last year, and I thought I did well.

For a single person, 50 K is MORE than enough to live off of. You have to remember, that you're not spending your annual income entirely in one year. If you save, then you can build yourself a comfortable life with a 30-40K salary. Just requires a lot of saving.

50K would be luxurious in my book. 70-80K is minimum for professionals, usually, unless you land an unfortunate job.

Re: What is a “good” salary?

I would be content with 50k as a single person…but imagine if you have like 3-4 kids? :bummer:

Re: What is a "good" salary?

unless they're total idiots who will completely waste their money, buying useless crap and not have an ounce of common sense... for those people, no amt of salary is good enough.

I feel like that's me sometimes :(

Re: What is a “good” salary?

^^:cb: you’re cute mrs. saieen

Re: What is a "good" salary?

If there ever was a thing that could truly make one happy, it wouldn't be money, but the happiness of those you love.

Re: What is a “good” salary?

love doesnt pay the bills :bummer:

Re: What is a "good" salary?

^ between two penny wise spouses, it better and does help budget, and then bills can be paid with in fairly modest amount of income :)

Re: What is a "good" salary?

But then too ,you need income, insurance etc etc...You can't live in a western country without apartment rentals, utility bills, car, car insurance, health insurance etc & for that you need a good salary.

Re: What is a “good” salary?

I expect my wife to run the house in $500 a month. bas :naraz:

Re: What is a "good" salary?

Just for my understanding: The ranges for "good" and "excellent" salaries that you are giving here are net salaries or gross? Especially in the case of the UK that would make quite a difference.

Re: What is a "good" salary?

I think better pay is betwen 80 and 100 k is nice but in that you still cannot be able to afford a private school. It all depends on area i think salary must be over 100 k if u wanna afford a decent house and islamic or private schools.

Re: What is a "good" salary?

what is the difference b/w net and gross income? I thought both were same

Re: What is a “good” salary?

mashallah aap ke kiyalat to bohat buland hain lagta hai khaney ki chutti hi kerni pare gi.

Re: What is a "good" salary?

net salary what comes in the house
gross salary what is with tax
Its just my kiyaal yahaan business wale bare hain abhi samjhaien gay.

Re: What is a “good” salary?

well i would retire at the salary you guys are considering moderate/average (50K) :bummer:

Re: What is a "good" salary?

Gross salary = Net salary + income tax

That means: Net salary is what you take home. The gross salary includes the income tax which of course you don't take home.

Re: What is a "good" salary?

You guys are only analysing salaries in USA or UK. The range of course changes where u live & how much u make according to the country standards.

For example, living in London u may be looking around 36K as standard pay, but for the same job u will not get more than 25K if u are in Manchester or Glasgow. Same rule applies to other parts of world.

So good salary may be different depending upon where one is living & what are the living standards.
