What is a girl to do?

I think I need to remind you that it does matter to others if unnecessary ( I mean unnecessary please) surgeries are performed. Cost of care for many health related issues are the reason where the necessity of a care needs to be determined.

For example an average joe pays taxes and the the tax money is used for health care of people who could otherwise be treated by less expensive rout.

This is a big and complex topic not just related to breast reconstruction/reduction/or enhancement treatments.

While some plastic surgeries may be performed by out of pocket expenses but when it comes to tax money being involved then these surgeries need to be done after careful case by case evaluation.

So there is not need to be idealistic or emotional.

Bottom line: Yes it does matter at time to other person when one person asks for unnecessary surgery.

Re: What is a girl to do?

Im sorry diwana, but i still dont understand how its anyone else's business.

You pay taxes so the country ur living in has a good economy. U pay taxes to give your children a good place to live in. And if that also means the improvement of the health system, then so be it. You have played your part in bettering the world... slightly.

And in terms of these surgeries... i believe they are categorised. Purely cosmetic surgeries which arent a result of some injury or health concern... dont require tax payers to pay for them.

And whatever unnecessary might be to you. might not be for someone else. If its affecting their day to day lives.... causing depression, or anything thats making them unhappy, then let them be happy.

Breast implants have been around quite a long time, they've just become a lot more popular in the last 5yrs or so because of the publicity from celebrities.. In any case isn't everything a 'new' development or 'fashion' at some point? Can't really see how that should make a procedure less ok or acceptable. Breast implants are not solely there for attracting the opposite sex, some of us, believe or not like to dress down in the day. I like to dress down in tracksuit bottoms and loose tops, ppl don't even notice my chest, infact my own mum didn't even notice for years that I'd had my boobs done (after the first procedure that took me up 2 sizes she didn't even realise).

I had a very boyish athletic figure in my teens and was v.flat chested to the point where tops didn't fit me properly, aunties would make comments about how thin I was etc. altho I wasn't super super thin, just flat as an ironing board lol and it was an absolute nightmare wearing stuff like evening dresses because they'd literally hang down at the front :(

Bit in bold is not true unless u go verrrrry large (and most surgeons will only allow a girl to go upto 2/3 sizes at a time anyway). Nobody looked twice at my chest when I was a c-cup with implants.. around average size anyway..

Scholars opinions on whether cosmetic surgery is haram or halal and their reasoning, the issue is not as black and white as some ppl on here are making out, it is allowed by some (according to the situation) and not allowed by others, else how did Iran become the nose job capital of the world?:

Love how some of the same posters on here who reckon cosmetic surgery is haram because it’s ‘changing Allah’s creation’ are the ones who ask questions on how they can become whiter lol.. I guess there’s still the idea that if something is common in our culture it must somehow be ok whilst if it’s common in so-called ‘western’ culture than it automatically is not..

:smack:

why is everyone interpreting my statement wrongly !

I didn’t want to reply to this thread any further but enough of posts in reply of mine!

What I mean to say was when a girl undergo a breast implant surgery she would be seen naked by many and to me this is unnecessary. I saw it happening once in some documentary on TV and I personally found it humiliating that a girl was sitting top naked and marks from pen were make on her breasts and then she had a surgery on them.

My point of view is having a heart surgery is totally a different thing. That is a life and death situation. Heart Surgery is not done to beautify yourself. Hence I say it’s unavoidable. It is a necessity/ Whereas breast implantation is not done to save a life.

Heart surgery or any other surgery can NO WAY be compared with breast implantation surgery.

People here are interpreting that after breasts implantation men will see you more !!! no thats not what I said.

And please people I have a right to give my opinion and what I said above is my opinion. You may agree to it or you may not …it’s your choice.

Re: What is a girl to do?

^ Sorry diamond..

I guess in theory it's possible to have surgery with a female plastic surgeon and with just women in the room tho.. I know when I had my last one (wasn't put to sleep that time) there were just 3 ppl there, the doctor, anaesthetist and the nurse, last two were female..

Re: What is a girl to do?

As long as you don't start acting like Jordan[she got her reduced now], it should be okay to have 'em. I don't know if women with these implants are able to produce milk?

^Sometimes they're able to, sometimes not, depends on where the implants were placed, where the incisions were made, if there have been multiple procedures or implants that are too large and have stretched the skin too much perhaps leading to nerve damage.. for those who've had just one augmentation and not gone too big there's less chance of problems in that respect..

Jordan sorted her boobs but messed up her face..

I did not want to get in to detail of defining what is necessary and what is not.

I made a general comment that it needs to be looked as on case by case basis.

Yes absolutely it matters to everyone if the health-care is paid for by these people. What is there not to understand?

Like I said it is a big topic....there are so many other issues attached with it.

Agree with your bold part. That is what I said above as well.

Re: What is a girl to do?

As far as I know insurance doesnt cover cosmetic surgery.

Some surgeries of these kind are covered. Anyways, there are ways people get around it.

Re: What is a girl to do?

Im not an expert on insurance but the only insurance thats paid for by taxpayers is medicaid/medicare...which is for low-income/elderly, and that covers the basic....nothing cosmetic. Private insurances that are more likely to pay for these type of procedures usually charge patients/customers a monthly premium. that's how they get insurance to pay for their medicine/visits/procedures etc.

Most people who have private insurance do this through their jobs.

Companies and people both share expenses for permium.

Indirectly everyone in company pays for premium.

Insurance companies premiums are shared by everyone eventually.

Like I said some surgeries which come under ‘cosmetic’ surgery can be paid by private insurance too. Let alone medicare/medicaid.

A woman over 65 who had mastectomy if breast reconstruction surgery is performed it can be paid by medicare.

http://www.medicare.gov/Coverage/Search/Results.asp?State=AL%7CAlabama&Coverage=14%7CCosmetic+Surgery

Did you know obesity surgeries are paid through insurances too.

Re: What is a girl to do?

^ Yes b/c those are health issues.

An obesity surgery is far different than a normally fit person getting liposuction for that extra stubborn bit of fat--the latter is purely cosmetic and medically unnecessary.

Re: What is a girl to do?

what about like, breast reduction?? :/

Purely cosmetic surgery even cosmetic teeth whitining is not payed by insurance. Its all out of pocket cost.

Everyone does their best to look better physically be it joining a gym, getting your theeki nose pierced, getting front bangs or cosmetically enhancing your features.
